We have been coming here for over 20 years now, through all the changes in name and I am assuming ownership. The one constant was the food, which was always superb. Until our most recent visit. Everything was off and we almost left soon after arriving and we wish we had.
Came here for our anniversary dinner, looking forward to a nice time and a great meal. The servers were very attentive- almost to the point of being ridiculous. We were served drinks, another server came up to ask if everything was "ok so far." Well, yes, this tea I got 1.5 minutes ago is just fine, thanks. It was like this the entire time, one person would bring us a tray of rolls, then suddenly another would appear and ask if everything was going ok. Very eager to please, and I understand the desire to have great customer service but this was a little off-putting to be honest. Then when it was time to pay, no one in sight. I am giving a second star just because as odd as they acted, I do think the servers were trying very hard.
The ambiance was strange, to say the least. There were people inside filming other people eating. I am guessing for TikTok or something? But they did this the entire time. It made the entire experience very weird and made us feel like we were in a fishbowl. I am guessing they are now trying to cater to a younger crowd? Which I guess makes the blaring TVs and now mediocre bland food make sense.
The first thing I noticed was all the rolls were virtually the same thing now. There is no real variety like there used to be. They have significantly pared down the roll menu and you better like some spicy crab, salmon and not much else because these two seem to be the stars of the show. We did order some spicy tuna also, it honestly tasted about the same as the mushy salmon rolls. Mushy is the best way to describe all 4 rolls we had. And it all had a bland nothing flavor to it. Even the wasabi is different, not as spicy and just kind of meh.
Finally, as you start to actually look around, you start to notice all the little things. The dirty light switches. The dirty floors. The dirty chair legs. All the normal maintenance issues you'd expect a well run place to have done. This place needs a lot more than a silly TikTok or two. Do...
Read moreUpdate - Today was my second visit to this place, and it was a terrible experience. As soon as I sat down, the owner or the head sushi chef recognize me from my previous yelp review. My first review was not all that bad, but this unprofessional man decided to have an aggressive/passive attitude towards me. He was very friendly to my face, but all that changed when I ordered my food.
I ordered the Sashimi Salad, and waited patiently for my food. By this time, I should have gotten my banchan (side dishes) which is basic in all Korean restaurants. The banchan never came. When my food came out, it was so disappointing. The sashimi salad is suppose to have a good ratio between the rice, sashimi, and veggies. My bowl was FULL of spring mix and cucumbers, and had very little sashimi. I couldn't even find the rice and the sashimi, because it was buried underneath all the veggies. On top of that, the only type of fish I got was salmon. Usually, its a mixture of salmon, tuna, striped bass, and/or yellowtail.
I don't know what game this Korean man is playing, but it is very unprofessional. If you have an issue with my review, then tell it to my face rather than hiding behind a façade.
Previous - It had decent reviews on Yelp!, so I came here for lunch. I had a spicy pork lunch box. The pork was tough to chew, and it was not marinated properly. It should not have a sweet and sour taste to it. The sauce was done wrong. Was very disappointed. The other items included in the box were California Rolls, salad, rice, pot stickers, and vegetable tempura. I was relieved the other items were pretty decent.
The place was pretty empty, and the waitress was not professional. She was dressed in her sweatpants, and had her hair tied like she just got out of bed. So unprofessional.
I will come again, and try the sushi. The big plus was the miso soup. It...
Read moreI have been coming to K Sushi for 8 years now... sometimes weekly. I am not exaggerating when I say I have been here over 100 times. When I learned of new owners I was sad, but remained hopeful. I have now visited three times since the new ownership a couple months ago (yes I subconsciously came less after ownership change)... the first time was different but most of the staff was the same so I felt great and they had better Sake in their dispenser, so I felt okay about other changes. The next time I found out every staff member was gone... I was sad but the sushi chef was great and sent me three different little treats for free, so I was again so excited. Then last night... that chef seems gone, only one chef with a decent number of customers, but not packed. I saw him argue with the waitress at one point... things were looking much less clean and organized... our waitress forgot our edamame, which isn't a huge deal, but when we reminded her we still hadn't received my wife's meal so we told her that too... she came back with the edamame and apologies.... but then forgot her meal AGAIN... so we remind her again and are asking for it to go at this point since we have reminded three times and we have been there over an hour. Our bill comes and we are fairly surprised to see even the $1.50 edamame on there... nothing reduced or given as apology. That may sound harsh to expect that but I implore you to picture going an hour and reminding someone a number of times...and getting nothing. It's fairly common place to offer some sort of consolation and apology. I left a 5% tip, which I literally have never done anywhere. I'm sorry for rambling but this was one of my favorite places and this week I will be starting my hunt for a new place to become...
