Submarino's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Glendale

I've ordered here a few times. Mostly I've been happy. Good tasting, reasonable prices. Until about two months ago, I ordered a white pizza and fried zucchini. Now, it still tasted good. But it was crazy expensive. My total for those two items was over $50. The most expensive pizza I've ever had. And I've eaten all over the country. First off, the woman who was taking my order did not seem to be in a good mood that night. Sounded cranky. She told me I couldn't have the ricotta on the crust. It had to be sprinkled on top. Weird. Again, I've eaten all over the country. I happen to also be Italian and I know how a white pizza is supposed to be made. Ricotta on top would just be a weird dry clump of cheese. It's not made that way in authentic Italian pizzerias. She actually argued with me about how they just could not make it the way I requested. I said I didn't understand the "can't" part. When she finally asked the cooks they immediately informed her they could do that. Basically she just assumed something she didn't know and actually argued about it. Then she charged me a price for extra ricotta that she explained as twice the charge because they had to spread it over the crust. Again, she did not verify this with anyone. Just charged me a crazy amount for something that comes on the pizza anyway. I was craving a white pizza and just went along with it. But it was pretty crazy. They used way too much ricotta as well. It's only supposed to be a thin layer on top of the olive oil. I want to reiterate, I've ordered this same style pizza from so many places that it was actually shocking to not only have trouble ordering it but also to pay $40 for this pizza. Update update lol: Wow what a difference when you order direct. Very friendly, I think the previous issue I had was because they didnt know how to handle a postmate issue. Food was excellent exactly like I ordered it. They even included the item I was missing last time and I didnt even order it. Very thoughtful of them. I know the previous owners wouldnt have done that. Also the delivery time was so much better and quicker than postmates. Will go again and again.

1st issue. Good updates after this issue. Beware if you use Postmates for delivery and something doesnt get delivered Submarinos will not help you. 1st they say it is Postmates responsiblity to make sure they have everything then when I asked for the item to be delivered I was told I can come pick it up. Lol there is a reason why I ordered thru Postmates no car. Then they said they couldnt deliver it because they dont have my address that is all done thru Postmates. Well heres a thought for customer satisfaction you could ask me for my address. I do know where I live. This place has really gone downhill since it was sold. Even tho Postmates didnt deliver correctly Submarinos didnt try to make things right. So what would they do if they actually had to take the blame for messing up. Come up with other excuses. Will not go there again.

Update: I s/w the owner (very nice gentleman). Was very sorry about the issue. He is making things right so I am changing my star rating from 1 to 5 because the sandwiches I ordered were really good. Will b going there again. I only recommend to call direct to have food delivered and not go...

Ordered dinner for the family arrived in exactly 20 minutes. (the estimated time was 25) when I got there the woman at the register told me it would be just another 10minutes. She was so concerned that it was going to take a whole 5 minutes more she gave me a discount and offered me a cup for a drink while I waited. When I arrived home I realized I was given the wrong order, I called to let them know, that same woman offered to remake that order and that she would have it delivered free of charge AND I could keep the incorrect order. I offered to just come get the order myself since she had already went above and beyond since I set foot in the restaurant. She was honest and said she only had one driver that day and that it would be quicker if I chose to pick it up. When I arrived my order was being packed up and she explained to me that it had been a slow month but out of no where that day they were so busy they ran out of product, she had to send her husband out for more, he got a blowout on the way there, and clearly the day was a mess! The cook even brought around my order and personally apologized! She thanked me for being so kind about the situation and I am writing this to THANK her and her entire staff for handling this in such a manner! It's small businesses like this who actually care about the customers and treat them with absolute kindness that stay around forever!...
