A good discovery as result of something needing a place to wait within walking distance after dropping off a vehicle for brake job. We have been looking for a no frills casual restaurant with good food close to us, and based on the 2 visits, think we found the place! In heart of the dealership row in Glendale, this 59 year old local "mom and pop" restaurant has quite extensive menu for breakfast lunch and dinner - with limited cocktails and $6 Mimosas. Simple decor, photos of the owners with floral arrangements at the restroom entry, comfortable booths, chalkboard and paper menus, indoor and covered patio in the parking lot. There is also weekend brunch. It can be challenging to choose a meal, but if you have a particular taste for sandwich, salad, light lunch or even large meal, chances are you can find it on the menu. Both times while we were waiting, we watched servers deliver these fantastic plates to patrons around us. We look forward to future visits to try the many different offerings. At time of our visit, there was no proof vaccination required or mask mandate. Because this is constantly changing, I would check their website or search for information on the current COVID mandates. There is no fee to park; there is limited parking near the back entrance, but it is a large parking lot.

A great local diner in Glendale. There are multiple Toasted Bun locations around LA but I have only been to this Glendale location. It’s a traditional retro-style diner so it’s a great option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My favorite diner meal is breakfast so we decided to stop in for our first time this Saturday morning for breakfast and had a great meal. There is medium-sized free parking lot attached next to the restaurant otherwise it will be street parking. Our server was very polite and all of our food items came out extremely fast. It was under 10 minutes after ordering that we got our food. Inside is quite large and divided into a few rows of booth seating. They have a fairly large menu so it was hard to choose what I wanted to order. I started with a coffee which I recommend because it’s strong and tasty here. For my meal I chose the Chilaquiles Verdes with Carne Asada and thought it was honestly great. The Carne Asada was especially good and seasoned and the portion size was very healthy. We also ordered Eggs and Pancakes and the eggs were terrific as well as the pancakes. The food tastes great and the pricing is fair so I would suggest to anyone searching for a solid breakfast option in Glendale.

So I was drawn in by the MENUDO sign lol - and thought to self, "hmm wonder how good this actually is?" IT WAS INCREDIBLE. This menudo was the tastiest I've had ever in Cali - the only place I trusted menudo before was at home in Texas. It is def a MUST TRY especially if you live in Cali and have been looking for some good menudo. I also ordered a chorizo burrito just in case lol, that was good too by the way but of course only took a bite of that because I ate every bit of my menudo. (i meant to take a pic before prepping with seasoning but i got ahead of myself) My son had the Carne Asada & Eggs skillet (I think), very tasty too he ate every bit of that as well. Service was friendly and patient, coming from the hospitality ind myself thats IMPORTANT. It was truly by chance that i stepped in after dropping off a rental at the hertz on the same corner. So grateful I did- I'll be visiting a few more times before my trip back to Texas. Don't miss out - get there SOON.

Nice staff but our experience was pretty bad.

We came in and they told us to take the middle table. It was set but dirty. We have a kid, so we have wipes and cleaned it off.

About 5 minutes later we got menus. While waiting to order (10-15 mins later) several groups came in after us, sat down, ordered, and got drinks before anyone came to even get our drink order.

After a long while we got to place our order and requested a high chair.

After an even longer while, the other groups were eating.

My gf noticed where they had high chairs so I got one.

We got our food. My gf's first bite garnered this response, "this is awful." Shes never that blunt.

She ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are pretty dense and there was a very light coating of gravy.

My breakfast sandwich was supposed to have jalapeno aioli. It did not.

We waited to see if anyone was gonna check on us, and then I went to the counter to order a side of gravy and aioli.

A while later we got it.

The bread on my sandwich was good. The egg was supposed to be over easy. It was over well. There was no runny bit of the egg.

The side of fruit we got was good.

The hashbrowns were terrible. Im not sure how that even happens.

Overall we spent over an hour here. There was probably 20-30 minutes more than needed waiting for service. The restaraunt was busy but watching people come after us, order, and get their food before us meant we were just in some kind of limbo.

It felt like the table was somehow invisible in the space, despite being in the middle of everything.

There was a lot of little things that made the experience bad, however, the food was not good. Thats really the biggest thing that matters.

I was shocked to have an experience like this in something rated 4+ stars.

Maybe it was just a fluke, but it felt more like what Ive seen or read in 3.4-3.6...

I've eaten there a couple of times before. The food's pretty good. But... the waiters are wearing clothes that look like they've been cleaning the garage. One, who I think is the manager was wearing an untucked white T shirt with a hole in it. I sat down and waited a while. The 2 guys are up behind the counter talking to each other and looking at the TV. I wave. I wave some more.... I'm 6'2" so, my arm reaches up pretty high. Finally the manager guy notices me and nods to the other guy. He comes over. "I didn't see you." "I've been here a while" "You didn't check in when you came in." "Customers need to check in with you when they arrive?" "Well, we could have our back turned and not see you." "Server friends of mine say that they scan the restaurant for new arrivals and to see if seated folks need anything." "Well, it makes it easier on us." I didn't know that it was my job to make things easier on them.

I'm eating and watching. The "manager" gets some to go food and brings it to the cash register and leaves. The person picking up the food gets money out of his wallet and sees that the guy is gone. He's looking around and the manager's walking around not looking. Finally he goes and takes the guy's money. Then I see him talking to the cook with his hands on the wall above the pass-through. He wipes his hands down that wall then rubs his nose. Talks some more and then rubs his nose again. Then he takes some more to go food, puts it in the bag. Takes the money for it and hands change to the customer.... not having cleaned his hands from the wall or nose.

I'm...

okay okay so just to clarify they had run out of steak (2 of us wanted steak and eggs but we got the breakfast burrito instead) and they did put mustard on the sandwich the other person ordered when we specified no mustard but they STILL get 5 stars. There was something on the menu for everyone. The servers were very friendly, they didnt hesitate in correcting the mustard issue and even without request gave a fresh set of fries to go along with it. THIS is why they get 5 stars, they didnt seem mad or anything they were happy to correct it. Kept customer service as the focus and that food was yum yum yum we were visiting from out of town and we are 1000% going back whenever we visit in the future. The only slight thing they may want to work on (and this is so petty, so petty because the other issues didn't even bother us because it was resolved with a smile) when customers enter it would be handy if the person at the till just took a name down, there was a person standing there the whole time when we walked in but they paid no attention, it was the other servers that were taking and delivering orders that were trying to keep an eye on who arrived and in what order (i can only imagine its not easy for them and sometimes people who come in later get seated sooner if they dont see the other people. This didnt happen to us but it is something that would grind my gears. All in all if your looking for a breakfast/lunch/dinner go here, the food is plentyful and tasty...
