4 stars for good customer service. -1 because there are more rooms than parking spaces. The parking lot is microscopic. I made a last minute reservation and pulled in with a small truck and cargo trailer. I had to back the trailer into the only open space to turn around and leave. I spoke to the front desk and he cancelled my reservation without issue. I ended up driving 140 miles and several hours because the hotel I originally made my reservation at cancelled it without notifying me. They offered no apology and no solution. So I made this reservation, and couldn't stay because there was no way to secure the trailer or take up 2 spaces. I ended up having to drive back home and will have to turn around and get up early to fight commuter traffic, which is what I wanted to about and why I had booked a room in the first place. Drove 140 miles, will get only 5 hours sleep, have to fight the traffic, lost 6 hours over this fiasco of my life that I'll never get back, and spent $30 on gas that's now down the drain. I'm considering ending my relationship with Choice over this. Not this hotels fault so I didn't give them a bad review, but Choice wasted hours of my time on the phone, my money (gas) and not one apology. They only offered to get me a different room at the advertised rates, which were over $200. My original booking was for $113.00. Not acceptable at all. This is up there with the worst customer service I've ever gotten. If I had at least been sent an email that my reservation was cancelled I could have chosen not to even get on the road in the first place, but they let me arrive to find this out. The clerk even had the audacity to tell me I cancelled it. Then with customer service I was told the hotel cancelled it but they refused to tell me what time that was done. I'm so angry with them it's not even funny. I'll be filing complaints in the morning with anyone and everyone I can. The CEO is getting a letter and I'm posting on all...
Read moreWe stayed here 2 nights toward the end of June. My first concern was the parking lot. I had driven 16 hours in my new, larger truck and knew we had to go to Universal the evening we checked in. I was concerned with the number of tight parking spaces available at this hotel. I was informed that we could park next door at Foxy's restaurant if there were no spaces available when we returned. Of course, this is what we had to do. I was very concerned we would be towed or have our truck stolen. The next day when I tried to get out of the restaurant parking lot, it was difficult to do since they were very busy and their lot was small also. We decided to spend the day at Glendale Galleria which is directly across the street. There is also a theater so we were able to catch a movie, which was nice since it was so hot. Once I retrieved my truck from Foxy's that evening, I parked in a spot which proved difficult to back out of in the hotel's lot. I scraped part of my truck on the pillar trying to back out..
The room was clean but very basic. We had an ant problem in the bathroom which we told the front desk about when we checked out after 2 days. The pillows and bedding could use some updating. Some of the outlets in the room did not work and the door to the freezer inside the fridge was broken. The pool was locked but it looked so dirty that we wouldn't have swam in it anyways but due to the heat, it sure would have been nice. This was one reason I booked this hotel.
The front desk staff were very nice and courteous. Foxy's restaurant next door also proved to be a great place to eat. Overall, the parking lot is small, the rooms could use some updating and the pool should be operational when it is advertised there is a pool, especially...
Read moreFor the amount you pay, this hotel is a decent night's sleep in a great location. Directly across from "The Americana at Brand", you can walk to a great mall and places like "shake shack", or "din tai fung". 15 minute drive to Universal Studios.
I accidentally booked a smoking room, and when I checked in and asked for a non-smoking room, I was told that all the rooms that had 3 beds were smoking rooms. The clerk offered me an air freshener.
The overall quality of the room is what I would expect for what i paid for. Beds are comfortable, sheets looked pretty clean, room itself was pretty good. There was a mini fridge and a TV.
Bathroom had a few errant long hairs, and the shower flashing (little silver ring that connects the shower to wall) came off and you could see into the wall which was pretty unsightly. The second day, there was also a "slime trail" like what a snail leaves up the wall from the shower head up to the ceiling. I'm sure it wasn't there the day before so my family was pretty grossed out.
The "coffee room" is just that - a room with a coffee pot. The cups are about 4 oz, so if you want more than a gulp of coffee, bring your own travel mug, or be prepared to stand there for a while. I will say, it was good coffee.
Parking is a little tight, and they're building an apartment complex directly next door. The construction noise was not an issue. I didn't hear anything at all so it didn't bother us, though we were out of the room...
