Ocean Garden — Restaurant in Gloucester

A week and a half ago I ordered the beef fried rice... It was God Awful! The beef tasted like it was boiled and the rice seems overcooked , there was no flavor. 5 days ago I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken ( last 3 times it was so good) Not this time, it was beyond oily, the chicken was Slimey, The knife cuts alone on the chicken were terrible! Big, uneven pieces... You know chicken when you eat chicken but, this was Slimey and tasted off , maybe spoiled? I tried to just take out all the chicken and eat the sauce and veggies with my pork fried rice but the rice was horrible! It tasted old and re-heated..!! Hence tonight's order...went vegetarian figuring what can happen? Sauteed string beans-spicy white rice and an egg roll (not vegetarian) String beans were Not fresh and they were very hard...tasteless again, no flavor the white rice-over-cooked and broken... I think they must be using very cheap rice...and the egg roll??? Oh my God...I do love that they separate the appetizers from the combo plates...but Ocean Garden your killing me...the egg roll was soaked in So Much Oil that there was actual tablespoons of oil at the bottom of the bag that the egg roll was in...the egg roll was greasy, overly dark??? Please tell me that your not reusing leftovers!!! To much inconsistenty with you guys it's so disappointing, I'm going to have to say goodbye. A 1 star for Atmosphere because honestly there isn't any, it's just a take away. I give 5 stars for service because they are friendly and are willing to do special requests, and delivery is always good, they are fast, and very nice. It would be great if you could get it together with the food perhaps hire new and better chefs. It's just too expensive and then a 5.00 don't load delivery fee and a tip which I always give at least 20 % but when the food is terrible it's not worth all that... That egg roll went down the garbage disposal! No way would I put...

I’ve been ordering here for a few years and today I was not happy about the food, I called them and explained to them that the Singapore noodles are usually long noodles and today they looked like they were chopped thrown in a container kinda looked like left overs, the soup was very salty the broth didn’t taste like normal and it was darker than usual, and I ordered a large Vegetable Rice, but I got a small one. Anyways, I called and there answer was “bring it all back and I’ll give you your money back”. Good service business owner would say” let me prepare it again for you and deliver it and I’ll take back the original order….. didn’t even apologize! I’ve never complained about this place but definitely something was up tonight.

In a kind of iffy neighborhood, you notice a clean sidewalk and windows; it says good things about a restaurant. On walking in, the kitchen is equally spotless. The staff is efficient and polite, the prices are good and the portions large. I got our food home still piping hot and it is delicious. What more...
