It's been years since I was last at a pancheros, and with them seemingly making a little comeback with new locations I would check back in.
Tried the quesadilla(chicken), tacos(steak), and burrito ("tofusada"). I love the fact they make the tortillas fresh to order and the flavors of all their proteins are pretty fresh tasting, I was very surprised by the tofu as I was blown away by it being very palatable (as I'm not the biggest fan of the meat substitute) that said I could see myself actually getting it on a regular basis.
The tacos were good and what I remember from years ago, juicy tacos sounds like a bad way to explain them but there is something satisfying about it.
The quesadilla was pretty standard and not really all that impressive, might also be that I got the chicken which I honestly wouldn't have known to be in there if I didn't see them make it.
Over all it's good food that doesn't wow across the board but certainly more light and fresh tasting than similar fare. I'm excited about there being a pancheros going on across from a zantigos so I can get a burrito from pancheros and chilitos from zantigos!
I would recommend getting a burrito as it feels the best value for what you pay, the tacos are a little pricy for over 5 bucks for 2 which doesn't seem worthwhile to me when I can get a burrito for just over a buck more. Though some might say the quality and freshness would make that price worthwhile I would say 4.50 is the most I would want to pay for what I got, which could have been a fluke so don't let that stop you from getting it.
Over all, it's worth a try, if I had one closer I would switch off from Chipotle now and again as they both serve burritos they are both still very different. There is also a weird coziness to the place that at least on my visit was...
Read moreR U N FROM THIS PLACE Was just over charged for my tiny cold meal.
Tacos are SMALL, okay… no big deal you order 4, the meet was cold, okay… no big deal, I get the fixings on and say sour cream and salsa and the teenager didn’t put salsa on them (I’m at the register at this point because the lady asks me if I want a drink) I look and see no salsa and say “oh, I guess You can just put the salsa on the side”, I found out just now they charged me nearly 2 dollars extra for a side of salsa.
For 4 small tacos and a drink it was about 20 dollars. Cold tacos… also side note the teenager who pressed the small taco shell didn’t heat the shell long enough on the grill and the doughy shell stuck to the tinfoil.
As far as I’m concerned I will leave this bad review up until I’m refunded for the salsa that I originally asked for on my tacos. Of course the lazy staff won’t read this or be ethical and refund that charge. I mean why the heck did the lady not put two and two together? I asked for salsa, the guy didn’t put it on, I said well I wanted salsa but you can put it on the side and they charged me. This was NOT an extra side of salsa, this was because the kid didn’t put any on my food.
Cold food, over charged on purpose, not even that good, I’d say...
Read moreI absolutely love this place. The freshly cooked tortilla is incredible. The queso is super good. The workers are always very friendly and the restaurant is always clean and well maintained. And I love that they mix your ingredients within the burrito at the end of the line, so every bite is great. Also, their greenade and flavolcano hot sauces are both super good. Their guacamole is also really good.
This place beats Chipotle in every way when it comes to food. That being said, there's two areas I think this restaurant could improve upon.
#1 - The meat has good flavor, but the fact that it's cubed makes the meat appear unauthentic and unattractive. Meat shouldn't look so perfectly uniform like it just came out of a can.
#2 - I think Panchero's would benefit from an open kitchen, similar to Chipotle. People like to see their food being cooked, it presents a...
