My girlfriend and I chance upon this spot this weekend and thought we would give it a try. I would have to say that we are glad that we did. We have eaten that many dumpling places all across the country and this new spot definitely holds up. We were probably greeted and sat at a booth, and the staff was friendly and accommodating throughout the entire service which we truly appreciate.
The green beans were amazing and I would highly recommend them. The minced pork on them was a perfect addition to a tasty vegetable that we already love. I would say if I had one criticism that the tan tan noodles had a bit too much peanut butter which became a slightly overpowering flavor and made the noodles taste really rich. Once again, no knock on them. This could just be a taste preference thing. The presentation of the dish was beautiful. The last item we had the opportunity to try was the pawn and pork dumplings handmade by two employees who were making dumplings right out front for people to see, which was pretty cool.
The decor was simple and clean as you would expect in a new restaurant and the bathrooms and underrated portion of any review. We’re very clean which I appreciate.
If I were to give a small criticism, it would be that the pricing seems a bit overpriced for this type of food. I’m used to going to dumpling places where the quality is very similar but the price is substantially less again. This is Golden Colorado so I’m assuming that There is a bit of a upsell to the local folks who can’t afford it.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience and we are glad that we were able to try this restaurant as it has just opened. I think most definitely we will be back to try some of the other delicious dishes that were...
Read moreI blame my girlfriend for getting me to like soup dumplings. I blame this restaurant for making it a weekly adventure.
The restaurant has the audacity to make the juiciest tender morsels with 10 different flavors for a reasonable 6 for $10. We had the Traditional, The Mushroom, the Crab and by happy mistake the Prawn.
The traditional soup dumplings are the perfect introduction into a soup dumpling. Start your newcomers there.
The Mushroom was savory experience that combined with the pork to make it easily the best dumplings out there.
Let’s not forget the Crab dumplings that surprisingly the most robust yet delicious in terms of flavor and should definitely be sampled.
We were accidentally sent the Prawn dumplings by mistake. And we do have to talk about. Before I do that I need to emphasize that every single dumpling is painstakingly handmade to order. They are less than 3 minutes old fresh by the time they arrive to you. So mistakes will happen.
But the flavor of the Prawn… well it was missing. It’s possible the pork overpowered them, but we could taste slight prawn. It didn’t carry as well as the other flavors.
So be aware that we can’t recommend that specific dumpling, but we think any of the others mentioned are solid.
Lastly the staff was awesome and very attentive and the minimalist decors plays really well with getting the diner to focus on the dumpling rather than the decor.
For the price, service, and food there is no...
Read moreA few friends and I recently met at a newly opened restaurant located in Golden, CO called Dumpling Bay (17211 S. Golden Road).
After seeing how the dumplings were prepared behind the counter: rolling out fresh dough, adding the meat mixture, and making them into dumplings, we decided to get the specialty xiao long bao—8 regional flavors: 8 different colors, 8 different fillings. All were delicious!
We also try the taro, red beans, and cartoon buns. These are sweet buns for those who have a sweet tooth.
Other dishes we tried were (1) pork & cabbage dumplings, (2) original xiao long bao, (3) pork & cabbage dumpling in chili oil, (4) pork belly buns, (5) mapo tofu w/pork, (6) stir-fried green beans & ground pork w/garlic, and (7) noodle with scallion oil. Out of the items listed, my favorites were the pork belly buns and the noodle with scallion oil. Both were so flavorful that left my mouth and stomach for more!
If you are around the area, I highly recommend Dumpling Bay. You will enjoy their freshly made dumplings and xiao long bao. If dumplings are not your to-go cuisine, try other dishes from the menu. I believe after giving them a try, you will be a regular, visiting this restaurant...
