I absolutely LOVE this place! With many options for Mexican in Golden, this is hands down no questions asked my favorite! I usually frequent 1-4x month depending on my schedule. I come because the frijoles taste just like the ones my grandma used to make and I miss her, so eating here brings her back for me. Growing up mexican-american I HAVE to have Mexican food every week, sometimes many days in a row. My grandma passed before I was old enough to realize I should've asked for the recipe. She was one of the nicest people to me ever, the one person in my childhood who made me feel completely loved and appreciated as I am, and on this level Palmas 1 delivers too! Because the staff and regulars are nice and always happy to see my daughter and I! The Owner is always asking about us and making us feel at home and welcome. A caring a supportive group of people who I wholeheartedly want to succeed in every way.
I've had everything from quick breakfast burritos, quick lunch, take out, eat in take forever have deserts, margaritas there and to-go, and sunday brunch (both american options and mexican) and it is all delicious! Rellenos, tacos, chimis, enchiladas, mole, tamales, and on and on and on I've had nearly everything they offer. All delicious and served up with kindness! The weekly breakfast burrito deal will fill you up and is an exceptional value!
UPDATE: try the secret menu item, breakfast...
Read moreI'm normally never one to write a bad review, but I needed to speak out about this place! I ordered a delivery through Door Dash of: Meat Breakfast Burrito, Carnitas Tacos, and Avocado Salad with Chips. The breakfast burrito was okay. Very bland. Made me wish I ordered a side of hot sauce or salsa (most likely would of been charged extra for that!). The avocado salad was literally just mashed avocados. Not even salted or flavored. To add insult to injury half of the container was filled with lettuce! They smeared some avocado on top of a pile of lettuce to make it look like the container was full of avocado! What a rip off for over $8!!!! I could of bought my own avocado at the grocery store for $2 and smashed it myself. At least the chips were crispy. The carnitas tacos were a joke. In the description online it clearly states that cheese and salsa will be SMOTHERED on the tacos. I received meat (the portions were decent) in sad little corn tortillas and nothing else. I specified I didn't want the rice and beans, yet there they were sitting with the tacos. Literally the worst tasting Mexican food I've ever ordered for such a high price. I think Taco Bell had more flavor at a better price (And I hate fast food). I know I'll never get to eat as good of Mexican food as I used to back home in SoCal, but come on! Side note.. Door Dash was awesome and super fast with my order. Five stars...
Read moreBiggest issue: "$2 breakfast burrito sign" with the MICROSCOPIC (to the driver) part saying "11-2pm" which makes it a lie. I will not go back here anymore BECAUSE of false advertising. I'll miss the food, but if I need a burrito, I'll go to Santiagos or Bonfire--they're expensive, but they don't lie about that.
I came in a while back specifically because of that deal. I ordered 4 of them. I was charged ~$20 (regular price) which made me reduce it to zero burritos. I asked the staff--which, before (most)they all quit--was the same staff that I had known from 13-ish years ago. Been coming a while. I wouldn't call myself a big spender, but I was coming in roughly once every 2 weeks. I'm not coming in anymore now that the old staff is gone. Found out from them how many owners the place has been through in the last decade and it's further decay is totally explained by that. Every time I've been in within the last year or two, I have been the only patron there. Maybe 1 other table, but usually just my party. And this is why they'll have 1 less.
Good-bye "triangle" (what my grandpa called you when we'd go). You've lost...
