Love this place, but I'm changing my rating to 1 star to object to being instructed that I could not sit inside while waiting for my order. I get they're not allowing anyone to eat inside, but I was in the far corner from everyone, and my sitting at a table to wait does not increase the chance I'm transmitting covid vs if I was leaning against any other surface while standing much closer to other customers, and there is very clearly no city ordinance restricting people from sitting inside. My previous review: If you haven't been to an in-n-out, you should know that they are one of the tastiest burgers in the nation.. And I've eaten burgers from Hawaii to key west and most everywhere in between. The company is Morman run, which is a bit of a minute for me simply because I'm not a fan of religions running businesses, however, they treat their employees well, pay them well, and the religious connection seems to primarily improve the quality of their establishment in this case. In-n-out's also have an open kitchen plan so customers can watch the cooks and staff prepare their meals. This creates a more friendly atmosphere for both staff and customer, while virtually eliminating the risk of the all too true stories of disgruntled employees contaminating the customers food. One almost all fast food kitchens, the staff is stressed, yelled at, and the kitchen is unbearably hot. None of these things are possible in an open kitchen where the climate is the same as what the customers experience. Early on they offered a protein style burger, where the burger is wrapped in ice burg lettuce instead of a bun. Do this with no sauce, and your meal is pretty well keto! (Though not full of a wide range of nutrients as other lettuce provides) This location is popular with the college crowd, and it's always hustling. Even when the parking and inside is packed though, you'll usually get your food within 15 minutes or less of walking through the door, or getting in the drive...
Read moreI'm confused about In-N-Out Burger! I am a longtime California resident have visited many times and even met the founding CEO. It is almost an icon, so tourists put it on their list. But every time I go, I wonder why!? The fries are terrible! I'm told you can order on the underground menu and ask for your fries to be well done. But probably most people don't know that. The fries are surprising considering they are made with potatoes that have probably been peeled and diced AFTER you place your order! But it doesn't seem to help. The burgers are tasty, and apparently custom-made after you order, and the menu is limited, but the result is that it ALWAYS takes FOREVER to get your order! Part of the delay, if you "eat in," is that you are waiting for 4,000 cars in the drive-thru! Then when I'm finished eating, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I sometimes feel a little that way at McDonald's too, but never as consistently or as much. So then I vow I will never return to In-N-Out Burger! But a year later I say to myself, "It couldn't be as bad as I remember! 40 gazillion Californians couldn't be that wrong!" So I return. But sadly, it IS that bad! (BTW, California immigration politics and our state's state of repair, and disregard for financial responsibility, show that many Californians CAN be wrong!!) So I wait another year. And then the cycle repeats. I just don't understand. They say "insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again while expecting the results to be different." Along with a gazillion Californians frequenting I-N-Out, I guess I...
Read moreAmazing food, speed, and service! Is now one of the cheapest fast food places in the city. You can start in line at the drive thru at the very end of the parking lot and get up to order and then make it to the windows to pay and pick-up in less time than I've had to wait at a McDonald's for my order inside after I've already paid at the kiosk. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and they all seem so genuinely nice. (Amazing what actually paying your employees a somewhat decent wage can do for them and your restaurant.) The food is almost always great. If you have a problem with something, most likely they will give you a replacement item, no questions asked. They are the latest open restaurant besides 24 hour places, closing at 1:00 or 1:30 in the morning. Despite how crowded it usually is and the sheer amount of work the employees need to do in such short time restraints, they seem to have a knack at just making you feel welcome there.
It's such a simple menu, with such quality food, and of course they are one of the few chains that has a "secret menu". Though it is quite an open secret. They even offer quality milkshakes. I strongly suggest getting and trying out a float, next time you're there. (Root beer float, coke float, 7-up float, whatever floats your float boat, try it out!) Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. A go-to for me, and seemingly only option anytime...
