HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND .... wow! A MUST TRY!
There is no obvious signage so don't give up if you can't see it immediately- it's located right next to Lighthouse Coffee and well hidden if you don't know what you're looking for. Look for the cement bench with a bronze fox....
Parking is a large sized, free lot.
Very clean, minimal layout - modern. Projector style menu on wall was clear but requires some explanation. We were greeted upon entry by a really sweet girl at the register who gave awesome recommendations for the drinks and dessert. Very informative and patient when we asked her to explain their menu items.
Our order: (all the drinks are iced and come with specific instructions on delivery- this definitely makes a difference in taste/experience!)
(Signature drink) Einspanner Cream Top (EXCELLENT & DELICIOUS!!) - intense flavor, beautifully creamy, full of flavor!
(Signature drink) Black Sesame Cream Top - I wish I ordered 2... it was awesome. Highly recommend it.
FYI: ("Cream top" means coffee based. I believe most drinks have a variety of forms like matcha, etc so don't forget to specify!).
Also ordered a Vietnamese Iced Coffee (caution: super strong, delicious but recommend the other two signature drinks over this one!)
Lastly, but equally important: DESSERTS!
Mochi doughnut! RECOMMEND! - We got the banana foster mochi donut.
I've tried the "Mochinut" chain donuts once and did not understand the hype--- this one was significantly better! A lot of more mochi inside the donut and I love banana flavored asian treats!
EVEN HIGHER RECOMMENDATION: the friggin UBE MUFFIN... Ube is purple so obviously doesn't look as appetizing to the eyes but it's a must-try for those who like Ube... it's the best Ube dessert I've ever had and i've tried them all.... The taste was perfect in the mildly sweet but the TEXTURE of this muffin was perfection. It's the perfect balance of CHEWY and mildly sweet that every Ube dessert should be... they hit it PERFECTLY!
I inquired about locations closer to LA but learned this was the only one... we were road tripping so I envy the Santa Barbara residents who get this at convenience. I will be def be recommending this place to fellow road tripping socal friends and best of luck to this super quality pop up establishment. I look forward to seeing you guys in LA & other parts of southern California...
Read moreFood was great but overpriced. I ordered their strawberry matcha latte and it was delicious but the serving size was ridiculously small, 7.50 for a cup the size of a small starbucks drink. I also waited in line for 20 minutes because none of the employees had any sense of urgency, they moved so slow. I’m assuming it’s because they were all so young but it’s still not an excuse. It’s almost laughable because they weren’t understaffed by any means, there were probably about 6 people on the floor… all college students just mindlessly wandering around. They obviously had no work experience and took their sweet time to do EVERYTHING. Whoever is managing this place seriously needs to change something about the way they run things. The last time I experienced service this bad was when I went to Canada, it’s awful. I almost cried tears of joy when I got back to the US because of how amazing the service is over here compared to Canada. Experiences like this make me so grateful for fast pace restaurants, the next time I see an In-N-Out worker I am going to thank them for being nothing like...
Read moreI didn’t actually go to Kin Bakeshop myself, but my wife did and brought me back their ube matcha and I gotta say I was not ready for how good it was. I’ve had a lot of matcha drinks from different spots and this one easily made its way into the top. The combo of ube and matcha can be a hit or miss at some places but this one was smooth, creamy, not too earthy, and just the right amount of sweetness. The cold foam on top was super thick and velvety, almost like dessert in a cup. What really surprised me was how balanced the whole thing was. You could taste the matcha without it being too grassy or bitter and the ube added this subtle richness that paired perfectly with it. No weird aftertaste, just clean and satisfying with every sip. If you're a matcha lover or just want to try something different that actually tastes good and doesn’t feel like a sugar bomb, you gotta check this one out. Next time I’m definitely going in person to see what else they’ve got on the menu but that drink...
