Here's an honest opinion:
HOW CAN SOMETHING LOOK SO GOOD, YET TASTE SO BAD.
First off, the cheese is literally just cheese out of a can. Don't spend the 4 bucks on it. If you look at the picture, it's that tiny little cup in the middle. If you do decide to waste your money on it, it does have a little kick to it. Otherwise, you can buy an entire tub of this exact cheese for 5 bucks at Walmart. No use in spending 4 for 5 chips worth of cheese.
One single lime wedge had juice in it. All the other Limes were juiceless. You can tell by touching a lime if it's ripe enough and juicy. Do better.
The beans were watery. Tried too hard to make it taste like frijoles charros, but it ended up as watered down refried beans? Very confusing. Flavor almost tasted vinegary. But okay.
The rice was dry, flavorless, and S A L T Y. My goodness, was it salty. For it to taste OKAY, just mix it with the watery beans. It should make it a little more bearable.
The tacos had great flavor. We had asada and birria. Both were fantastic. The tacos only have a single tortilla. If thats normal for tacos here, then ignore me. In Texas, they use two tortillas for the tacos.
The chips were semi stale, but they tasted okay. They had seasoning on them, so that was nice.
The inside was dark and gloomy and uninviting. You definitely don't go there to sit down and eat. There are like 6 booths and one table. Not a lot of room.
I paid 58$ for mediocre food. Luckily the tacos were decent, but seriously need to demand for my money back. We came from Texas, so we are picky about our Mexican food....
Read moreThe food was great, the service was great, and the presentation was excellent. However, the prices are where all of the good disappeared. We ordered some chips and salsa ($3), I got a California Burrito with carne asada ($14.99), and my fiancé got a plate of 3 tacos with carne asada (11.99). We got two large Horchatas as well. Here’s the real kicker, the total price was about $52. That means that the two drinks somehow added another $19 to the total. The worst part was, the Horchata really wasn’t all that great. It was a bit disappointing to have to pay such a premium for food that isn’t quite worth that sort of money. At that price range, there’s just better places to go and eat. It’s a shame to say that about one of the only local Mexican restaurants here in Goodyear, but it’s just what it is. One other big issue was the small menu. Online they advertised a massive menu with lots of choices, and yet when we went inside to eat, we were handed a tiny little menu. It felt like a huge miss. Overall, the food wasn’t bad, it was quite good. But the prices are insane, considering that you have places like Rosie’s Taco Shop in Avondale and Cali Tacos as well, which are much cheaper and have better quality....
Read moreAloha, it's Kalani here! 🌊🌴 My ohana and I had a mixed kai experience at Chido MX this past week. On Thursday, the surf was definitely up with the Surf and Turf Burrito and the Carne Asada burrito we ordered. Everything was ono (delicious) - from the Hibiscus drink that brought a touch of the islands to our table, to the Horchata that was as refreshing as a Waikiki breeze. 🌺🌮
However, when we returned on Friday to ride the wave one more time, it seemed like the tide had gone out. Our Surf and Turf Burritos missed the warmth of the sun, and the rice felt like it had been out too long, losing its aloha spirit. Plus, our Quesabirrias were left longing for their consome, a crucial part of the meal that was unfortunately forgotten. 🌊🍴
I'm giving Chido MX a 3-star review because, like the unpredictable ocean, our experiences varied. The first visit was a big wave of flavors, but the second visit didn’t quite catch the same swell. Still, the potential for a great meal is there, and we're hopeful that Chido MX will find its rhythm with the waves again. 🌟🌟🌟
Mahalo for the meals, and we look forward to seeing how you'll bring the warmth and freshness back to...
