My wife came here with her family, several times when she was a kid, but hadnt been back in over 30 years. It is what she has compared fried shrimp to ever since. She said they taste exactly as she remembers. The shrimp are large, perfectly battered, and fried until they become GBD. Golden, Brown and Delicious. The onion rings are the same. It is a no frills place. With any of the seafood baskets, you have 2 choices for sides, fries or salad. Portions are large. The staff is nice. The prices are very reasonable. Its about 2 and a half hours down here from the house...and I will be making this trek every...
Read moreWent here on the high recommendation of someone from the area. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The food was ok. I had the fried shrimp, which weren't flavored with much of anything that I could taste. Others that were in my group had similar thoughts about the food, that it was ok, but not great.
The restaurant itself is very small, and if you go during regular eating times, you will probably have to wait outside or in an adjoining room that is only accessed from outside the main dining area.
That said, the service was great, and the people there were very down home. Maybe I just went on an off day. I would probably try this place again, but if I had another option, I would likely go...
