It certainly isn't the Unicorn. They blew out the ceiling to open the place up and the dining room is now a sports bar setting and the bar is the small dining room.
The menu is eclectic, and my date went nuts over the Asian Hogie. The filet was a bargain at $35, but it could have been seasoned a bit. Sear was perfect, and a perfect medium. The asparagus and potatoes were good, but I didn't try the carrots. They may have been the best carrots ever cooked, but they were not attractive. Something about brown carrots that just wasn't appetizing. Was a bit surprised that they charged for a side of dressing, but still I didn't feel the check was out of line, and if that's what it takes to manage costs, I'm good with it.
Cayla was fun, took a minute to get things started, but overall the service was good, and we both enjoyed the new venue.
Does not tack on extra fees for employee insurance, built in tips, car wash or any of the other things that you see on your restaurant checks these days. Was not impressed with the handheld POS terminals the staff uses, the server struggled a bit to get the order in. In that it's casual dining, it's about par for the course.
To the person that didn't want fries, did you ask for fingerlings? I did and they were delicious.
23.12.12. I will say I had one MISERABLE experience when they integrated Google reservations with their platform. Every ta6in the house was booked for 6. They took walk-ins before they took a regular. No apologies, thank God for the kitchen or I would have never come back.
23.12.14. 3 to 6 is happy hour. The chicken fingers appear to be hand battered, the gtbbq and honey mustard are excellent, they need to bottle their BBQ sauce. Nice for a quick dinner and cheaper than fast food. 👍
24.01.19 updates to the menu include asparagus as a side. Chicken fingers are available after happy hour, new drink menu. I wanted the BBQ ranch chicken sandwich both blackened and BBQ, no tomato, on a plate instead of a sandwich. They did it, and the little kick from the blackened was perfect. I love asparagus if it's not over cooked. I had that as well. What can I say, I like food cooked to order, which is why I go back.
24.02.20. note price is not representative, I splurged on myself. Had the fillet, lightly blackened and added a blackened scallop. I never tried one before and it was delicious. At some point I'm sure I'll decide it's to worth the walk the corner, but as long as they keep doing requests, I think it will be awhile. You know they have non-alcoholic gin for a regular? The bartender was having the staff test a mocktail to add to their...
Read moreMade reservations for dining room - placed in the bar area, couldn't even hear each other due to how loud it was. When leaving we could see the dining room was basically empty, so I'm not sure why they changed it and didn't tell us where we were sitting just lead to a table and told our server would be by soon. My husband ordered the dry aged ribeye - he received a standard strip steak. That's not even on the menu. He informed the staff of the issue, told them he would keep it for now- as at this point we were both getting headaches due to the noise level. The items were still charged full price on our receipt. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare - dinner arrived and it was very very rare with a cool center - not medium rare. And both of our side vegetables were undercooked. Maybe the cook needs to work on some of the basics. Also ordered the peaches & cream dessert - was not cooked well, the peach was crunchy and really had minimal to no sweetness. Currently don't plan on returning - as that is a hefty price tag on many dinner entree items but perhaps the sandwiches would be ideal as those are...
Read moreI'm a vegetarian so I carefully study menus before I go somewhere. The establishment has only been open for about six weeks so I'll cut them some slack. I had my heart set on falafel; either the appetizer or entree. They were out of falafel so I ordered the ravioli which was way too rich for me. The server told me I could get it with or without chicken so I assumed there would be a price reduction (or I would have ordered it on the side and taken it home for my husband or dog). I would have rather had a WW Smart Ones ravioli dinner instead of paying $20 for about the same portion. It's my understanding that the same people who own the Foundry, own Gehring's. Since the Foundry is my favorite place to eat, I expect Gehring's will improve with time. The inside of the restaurant is much lighter and nicer than I remember it as...
