The plain sushi rolls were 2 for 10.50 which is pretty good in my opinion and the ingredients were high quality. However, they were not able to make any custom rolls, even easy ones, and the sushi shift did not know the word "tamago" which is a pretty standard sushi topping made of sweetened scrambled egg. I like to get cucumber and tamago and tempura shrimp rolls for my kids.
The chef's fancy rolls ran from $14 to $16 and maybe more. I got kind of scared and stopped reading the prices. We ordered five and they were all AMAZING. I was surprised to find so many warm components in sushi rolls, the volcano roll has warm crab salad that has been blasted with a torch on top for some crispy caramelly goodness.
The drunken noodle was mediocre at best. I could have eaten it, but chose not to. The noodles were cooked perfectly, which is unusual, and pretty tricky to do.
But the recipe was garbage. The noodles were red/pink as if cooked with ketchup, there was no umami or sweetness or tartness. Just some sad shreds of basil,a little salt, and a late heat that barely prickled. It was served with the hibachi vegetables so some rectangular chunks of onion and zucchini stirred in, a little broccoli. The tofu was unseasoned, overcooked and tough.
Pan fried mai fun was pretty good. It was what I expected when I ordered it. Our order of fried rice never came.
The frozen strawberry smoothie was delicious but sickly sweet, it was obviously made from sweetened dried strawberries instead of the fresh stuff.
Oh, the serving size of ginger and wasabi that comes with the sushi plate is inadequate. And when you ask for more you get a bigger serving than you had initially, but it costs over $3 a pop. We asked for several, assuming that they would be as teency as the ones that came with the plate, so we ended up spending $10 for ginger and wasabi. At least they keep and we were able to bring them home...
Read moreReally disappointed to have to do this, but if they don't know something is broken, they can't fix it. Have loved Passion Fusion for years, and eagerly awaited their reopen after the fire. We have had some good experiences since the reopen, but getting food to go has proven too much of a gamble, because there is going to be something wrong, and you can't send back to the kitchen for them to fix it. The food is just too expensive to eat the cost like you would if you got messed up fast food. Most recent take out order, my husband's chicken was just barely cooked, so that it still had the raw taste and texture, though it was cooked enough you couldn't see pink. That was half his meal. He threw it away and was still hungry. My daughter got pad Thai, but her noodles were crunchy and tasted too sweet. She has enjoyed pad Thai many times before, this restaurant and different restaurants, and this was the first time she has not eaten her pad Thai. She ate the steak and left the rest. $17 for pad Thai that she couldn't eat is kind of a bummer. My hibachi chicken was okay, not their best, but edible. After $55 for dinner, my husband and daughter went hungry until we could regroup and make them snacks at home. We will save our trips to Passion Fusion for in person so that when our good is not as it should be, we can at least have them fix it, which they have always done kindly and graciously. We'll not do take out for a long while until they work out the kinks and become more reliable again. Still tickled to see...
