A&K Dawn Donuts — Restaurant in Grand Blanc

To Whom It May Concern:

I was in your donut shop at about 2pm on 3/29/2024. There were a few gentlemen at some back tables talking and one woman that entered before me. The young lady that was waiting was not personable, with no smile or a thank you for coming. While I was waiting to place my order, another gentleman came in behind me and a young family after him. Upon seeing the gentleman and young family, your cashier said “what the F” under her breath but loud enough to be heard. Clearly she was upset at the amount of customers that she would have to take care of. After the lady in front of me left and it was my turn, I started making my selections. The young lady was sighing and making sounds of exasperation with every choice. Another customer entered at this time and she muttered a few other angry phrases, clearly upset at the amount of work she had to do. There was never a greeting or smile for anyone, just a very obvious attitude at the work to be done.

I love your donuts and your small shop. I usually love everyone that waits on you there, because they are happy you are there and happy to help you. I work in customer service, so I am aware of how trying people can be at times, but everyone in that shop was patient and waiting their turns except for your employee. She was visibly upset that she had customers and made no attempt to be pleasant. I am writing this to you to give you a chance to change the experience for someone else.

I came to Dawn Donuts on 4-12-18 and purchased 5 donuts, the bald gentlemen had to come from the back to service me & he seemed irritated, so I asked him if there was a problem and he said no. As I turned to leave he flipped me off, so the I went back in to ask for my money back & the manager contact number he said he threw me the peace sign and then threaten to call the cops. By that time the young lady that usually runs the counter came out the back . She was apologetic and said the manager/ owners son would be there within the hour, as he started barking at her not to give me any information, I could tell she was getting nervous/scared of getting in trouble as he was yelling at her to stop talking to me, so I told her act as if I wasn’t there and I’d wait until the owner/manager arrived. When it came apparent I wasn’t going to leave, the bald gentlemen called the Grand Blanc police, by that time my pregnant wife and mother in law arrived to make sure everything was not getting out of hand and I wasn’t going to be treated like a suspect, and of course they ran their BS because they’re cops and that’s what they do, at the end of it all the young lady offered us our money and donuts and really apologetic more so than the manager/owner . Their donuts are kind of a hit and miss on quality. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with who was working and making them specifically or what, but my family would get a bag of donuts, everyone’s favorite plus maybe an extra one sometimes, every Sunday for the past few recent years as like a tradition, but haven’t been there much recently. Some Sundays , their donuts would be phenomenal, then the next would be disappointing. The quality was too inconsistent in my opinion. I would always get the classic glazed donut, which is my favorite, then realized that the bow tie is the same exact thing but bigger and more and just twisted into the shape of a bow tie instead of a traditional round donut with the hole in the middle. They definitely would be much better if they put more glaze on them, seems they go a bit skimpy on it more often than not. Although I’m not always 100% satisfied with their donuts, I would still go to them over any other big chain or whatever else is around here, unless there is a really good spot that is close to me that no one is telling me about. I also like their convenience as they are only a few minutes from my house and I am usually right in and right back out...
