This Grand Blanc gem is family owned 3 generations. Sophia’s Kitchen has been a staple in this location since 2000 which is when I was there last. It looks like it hasn’t been updated since then either. That’s fine because the decor has stood the test of time and overall it’s clean and service is great. I visited solo on a lonely, dreary Saturday morning but was greeted joyfully and seated in a comfy booth and was promptly served my cup of coffee as I sat down. They boast on their menu about being voted best breakfast I couldn’t decide between the #3 Egg & Biscuit Combo with fresh biscuits and gravy or Philly Omelette with shaved steak, cheese, mushrooms. Both dishes were served with hashbrowns (from frozen) and your choice of toast. I decided to go with the Philly after consulting with my server because having the biscuits would render me useless in a timely manner due to Celiac disease even though I live for some homemade biscuits and gravy. Since it was a social day I played it safe and really enjoyed the flavor of my omelette. The only thing is the canned mushrooms they used. I don’t enjoy the taste of them generally but I still enjoyed my meal.

I didn't mind a cute little old school diner, but the foods gotta be good. I ordered a biscuit and gravy with a coffee. Coffee was as expected, the food not so much. When I ordered the food the waitress told me, "Oh it's so good!" She brought the plate out minutes later and the steam was just roaring off it! Obviously microwaved. Biscuits were bland, gravy was like soup and I found A viable piece of sausage in it, the rest were microscopic. The waitress was attentive and friendly.

Today, March 12, 2024, we had exceptional service from our waitress. She was helpful, offered suggestions and had a sweet personality! I give her 5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ Sunday breakfast at Sophia’s was good. The service was exceptional. We were offered coffee refills several times throughout our meal and afterward. I ordered a veggie omelette and what coffee and the meal came to $10.58 which is slightly more expensive than Leo’s. I took half of it home in a doggy bag.

Decided to take the family out for breakfast and my fellow union brothers and sisters at our meeting was talking about this place and said to try it !

So we did and the lady who was taking care of us was very rude from the moment we walked in as if she didn’t want to wait on us!

But I was like maybe she had a bad table before us!

She was nice seating us and was gonna bring us menus but 12mins later we were still waiting and I noticed she sat 2 other tables and got them drinks with menus in hand!

I asked the other waitress who was super friendly and got us our menus, and about another 5 or so minutes later our original waitress she came by and ask us “we’ll have you figured out what you all wanted” I was kinda shocked and didn’t even think about what I wanted!

I said it would be nice to have drinks since we waited already 20 or so minutes later while the other two tables got food already!

So she grab our dinks and we ordered some food and we were just not going to ask her for anything because we felt like we did something wrong or didn’t want to be embarrassed!

In the end we just left the food and walked up and paid our bills while she just watched us smiling!

Worst experience here and I will never go here again and I’ll make sure the my brothers and sisters knows about this...

An older gentleman, walking with a cane, walked into the restaurant while my family was eating. The hostess made this gentleman walk 5 tables into the restaurant when there was an empty table near the door (less walking for the gentleman... common sense!) then proceeded to seat two young individuals closer to the door. Mind you, the older gentleman was trying to sit at the first empty table and she STILL made him move! When confronted, the hostess said she didn’t want to overcrowd the area and it was “the other waitresses turn.” So the waitress can’t walk to the other table outside of her area?? Or the waitress in the area can’t take one more table?? Maybe a lesson on common courtesy would be appropriate.

Regarding the food... save your money!

Our waitress was the highlight of the breakfast... thank you, Collene! Great energy and...
