Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Grand Forks

Sonic has always been a staple in my life, but after my last two experiences I feel like sonic has betrayed me and stabbed me in the back. My first experience I had come from work to grab food for my fellow employees. I ordered through the drive thru a Crispy Chicken Sandwich with no mayonnaise, mozzarella sticks with marinara, and an ocean water. I returned to my place of work only to realize they had forgotten my marinara sauce and given me a chicken slinger which includes pickles and mayo. I was so disappointed in my meal I decided to go back to Sonic to get the correct sandwich. I go inside this time, showing my receipt and sandwich asking for the correct sandwich in replacement. I was given a new bag of food and returned back to work. I didn't check the sandwich that I received because I didn't believe they could mess it up again...they did. I was given a Crispy chicken sandwich with no mayo no tomato and WITH pickles. Where in the picture or website does it say Crispy Chicken with pickles, nowhere. In my disappointment I took off the pickles and choked down a day old piece of chicken.

One week later my parents are in town looking for a good lunch destination. Since they don't have a Sonic back home and I didn't think my experience could be worse I offered to go to Sonic. We started off with a Sonic trademark, the drive in dining. We park get our order ready and then greeted with with a voice telling us we cant order. Now parked in we have to wait 15 mins before we can back up and enter the drive thru. Skip forward 25 mins we finally get our food. I learned from my last experience and opened my sandwich while at the drive thru window. It was wrong my crispy chicken sandwich had mayo and lettuce. It was missing tomato's again. I get my second sandwich and go park to eat. I open it up it has no mayo no tomato's pickles and lettuce. Literally how? What is going on in the minds of the preps? Oh wow its wrong let me randomly add pickles to a sandwich that isn't supposed to have it to begin with.

In conclusion, I received 4 sandwiches and not one of them was right. I did not receive tomatoes on any of my sandwiches even though my family had received tomatoes on there's. I hope to be back one day because I do enjoy the drinks, but after 2 bad experiences and not the best customer service it's gonna take a lot for me to step foot in the grand forks...

This review is for Canadians who haven't tried Sonic yet.

Just tried Sonic for the first time in my life, went twice for drinks and once for breakfast. If you are visiting the states from Canada, this seems to be an excellent stop for drinks and to experience the drive-in style menu/parking/service. It was much preferred to a typical drive-thru. The drinks come with those little round slushy ice cubes, which I think are great. The diet (cherry) limeades were awesome, I'll try the iced teas with fruit infusions next time.

For breakfast I tried an ultimate meat and cheese burrito, which was probably the best breakfast burrito I've had at a fast food place (but, coming from Canada, my breakfast burrito experiences are limited). It was loaded with tasty bacon and sausage. The salsa went nice on the burrito. I also had the 3 piece (3 is enough for a taste) Cinnabon Cinnasnacks, which were heavenly. If you are visiting from Canada, don't miss these sweet, fried, tasty treats.

Update March 2023: we returned a bit less than a year after first posting my review. While we were there around 3pm to order breakfast, I think that breakfast items should be fairly similar throughout the day if they are being offered. This time around, the "Ultimate Meat and Cheese" burrito was literally around half of the size we had previously experienced. Not sure what happened. Disappointed with the size/cost but still...

Im a dasher . I visited the place today to pick up an order . Today was a hot day, and I wanted to order me an ocean water, for it helped me cool down . Unfortunately, that wasn't the case . The associate denied me saying I'm allowed to order when I'm picking up an order. I told her I got the customer permission to do so. For it was a hot day she was mad about started to me about the doordash policy if I had done something wrong. I told her the day before I had ordered ocean water while picking up an order, and no one got hurt. She refused me and I asked to speak to the manager . He was worse than her, basically trying to force me out to the point that he called the cops . Now, all I wanted was ocean water . To take with me for a hot day and the cops came . I'm not sure what the manager told them . But I was asked if I had been drinking or on drugs, which was weird to me . I told them I'm clean and welcome to drug test or take one of those brath things. After all said and done, I got banned from this sonics with a trasspassing thing for a year all over one drink . The manager was really rude, and so was the associate . The customer i had the food for had no problem with my small dely, but they made it seem as if he was delivering a hart to a hospital. I hope the owners see this cause I ask to speak to someone else they told me good luck...
