After leaving Taste of Philly, my fiancĂ© and I are so sadđ We're so sad because we finally found a GREAT Philly Cheesesteak place in Grand Forks and we're moving states in TWO WEEKS! Both my fiance and I got the regular cheeseteak combos with fries, a drink, and buffalo chicken wings. The cheesesteaks were so yummy and creamy, not dry at all like a lot of places in GF. The fries are my FAVORITE cut of fries, the McDonald's/Simplot style fries, and they were piping hot and crispy. The chicken wings were actually crispy but MOIST on the inside!! Which is crazy to find because I've yet to find a wing place in GF that has crispy AND moist wings. If anything, most places in town have wings drier than the Sahara Desert. The owner (I think) was super sweet and continued to check on us and even gave us complimentary canolis!! Im usually not a canoli girl, but they were really good and my fiance ate his whole canoli!
Philly cheesesteaks are arguably one of my fiancé's favorite foods. When we moved to Grand Forks from Florida in 2020, we've been trying to find a place that rivaled our hometown cheesesteak gem and have not been able to find one until TODAY. We actually almost ended up not going here because of the 3.6 (at the time) star review, but my fiance looked at the actual reviews and it turns out that those low reviews were just Karens (one with violent tendencies also, it appears) and we decided to disregard them and come and I'm SO GLAD we did!! We will definitely be coming back again before we move...
Read moreFirst impressions didn't exactly knock it out of the park. My order definitely had items missing or just not to the level I expected for my first time here. Some of the more notable highlights were:
I ordered the pepper cheese steak with white American cheese. Either the staff put the cheese on the side into the hoagie roll or they just completely forgot it entirely. So I guess I had a philly steak sandwich.
I had a combo upgraded to large. So that would be a large fry. Now I don't know if the fry bags are just too big, but the fry bag only being half full isn't what I would define as a "large". Oh and half of the bag was soggy and the fries were not salted or had a hint of seasoning.
I ordered a side of ranch, it probably shouldn't surprise anyone at this point that I didn't even get the ranch.
Now I will admit that I was the only person in the store besides the 2 employees, who were sitting around when I walked in, so I'm not sure how my order got messed up this badly for my first experience.
I might try them again, but it's going to be awhile before I spend another $20 to have an order...
Read moreWeâve ordered from Taste of Philly before and enjoyed it, but this time was a big disappointment.
We ordered two Large Cheesesteaks and 12 wings. One sandwich came out great, full of meat and toppings, hearty and just like youâd expect. The other (mine) was completely different: dry, skimpy, mostly bread with barely any meat. I thought it was Subway for a second. For $15.79, a Large Cheesesteak should be hearty from end to end, not flavorless and empty with thin layer of meat lost in all that bread. The difference between the two sandwiches in the same order was huge, and thatâs frustrating.
The wings were just okay â not terrible, but not memorable either.
Altogether, the order came to $60.86 with delivery. Thatâs a lot to spend on food that feels inconsistent. When Philly cheesesteaks are your specialty, thatâs one thing you canât miss the mark on. Sadly, this time...
