TDLR - You're better off parking outside of UND. And if you park at UND, have fun with tickets.
UND Parking Services is in need of reformation. A student can pay for an all access parking permit for $400, this is a tried and true rip off. I have an all access parking permit, and have received 6 parking rickets. 4 of which was an error with Parking Services Systems. However, I was told the error was my fault and only appealed one. Parking Tickets at UND are $20 each and you can get more than one ticket at a time. UND Parking will even ticket contractors who park in service vehicle parking. Paying students, faculty, staff, and even paid contractors will receive many parking ticket. Housing parking is even worse, In the past 4 months, I have parked in campus housing parking 1 time. Usually, the nearest available parking space for residents on campus is 700 to 1000ft away. There are plenty of parking spaces just 150ft away, but these parking spaces are daytime only. UND knows the problem, and refuses to aid or make correction. It is for these reasons I try not to use any parking space controlled by UND. UND has the opportunity to earn 5 stars. If they give students, faculty, and staff more parking options, forgive hundreds of dollars of parking tickets, and make amends to their parking systems, then they will...
Read moreUND Parking Services is by far the worst office on campus. They give out parking tickets far more expensive than even those of Minneapolis like its candy and every day is Halloween. They take full advantage of vague policies in order to push more tickets on us already broke college students. Their cars will hang around busy lots like vultures looking for any and all parking "violations". They oversell lots and then tell you that "they're still within capacity, but if you are having trouble finding a spot, you could try this lot a quarter mile away." Finally the worst experince I've had with parking is early last semester when one of their drivers nearly knocked me out of a crosswalk and across University because he was on his phone and speeding down a road ironically ignoring the speed limit and basic road safety laws. He didn't notice me or the stop sign until he was more or less at it and the only reason my kneecaps arent metal is not because of his very poor abikity to use the cars brakes but rather my own notice that he didnt seem to be ready to stop for someone already in the cross walk. After nearly hitting me, I was given the finger as if it was my own fault for being in the crosswalk, before he sped away as if nothing...
Read moreThe parking office significantly oversold parking permits for the fall 2024 semester. So few parking spots are available that on any given morning you may have 40 - 50 cars driving around the all the parking lots trying to find a parking space!
This also goes for faculty and staff parking. I have purchased a faculty parking space yet there is never a space available. When a space is available desperate students frequently use these spots.
How can a University expect their students and faculty make it to campus on time if there are no spaces to park?
Its not a simple fix to just arrive earlier either since following this advice will just lead to people arriving earlier and earlier every morning and some people have responsibilities precluding them from leaving at...
