Dragon Express — Restaurant in Grand Haven

I had high expectations for Dragon Express. It had been years since I had been here and I remembered it being good, so I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The ordering process was difficult with what is probably the most over the top plexiglass barrier I have ever seen. There is a tiny box they open up to talk to you. It literally seals the dining area entirely from the kitchen. Very difficult communication! As I waited for my food I looked around the restaurant and noticed how poorly kept up it was. It was unclean and you could tell that there was very little effort or pride of ownership. There were signs of water damage, including mold. I was starting to second guess if I should have just left and not risked eating food from a questionable establishment. When I got my food I was not very impressed. The food just seemed to lack quality. The General Tso chicken was glazed with a tasteless sauce. The crab rangoons tasted off too. I did end up with a somewhat upset stomach after eating here. my sister had hand surgery, so I told her not to worry about supper. I had it handled. So I had the idea to drive from Muskegon to Grand Haven for Chinese food. we went to Dragon Express. they always have good food and fast service. It was about 4:30 we placed a $60. dollar order. I ordered 4 combination platters. I also ordered a BO BO platter which had wings, shrimp, shallots, spring roll and other stuff on the order. The food was all good except what we got in the 13.95 platter. fried way to much , to hard and crunchy to eat. disappointed with that. maybe watch the fryer closer please. I've been going to this place since I was twelve.I love this place.Their quality has not really changed much in all my lifetime of forty years.The staff is indifferent.They're nice, but they clearly don't trust any of us.And that's fair, because they shouldn't.Most americans don't trust each other.It has nothing to do with race or anything of the sort, though.It's part of it, of course, the inherent class stratification that is inherent to our system.That is pushed down all of our throats due to the billionaire class has us all fighting each other.By far, I love this place.I love the people there.I love the people there more...
