Didn't like the food or the service! On our visit, the samosas were so bland that even the idlis would taste more flavorful. On requesting to change it, the waiter started arguing that they make their samosas bland and there is nothing they can do about it! Again on requesting them to take the samosas back, they didn't. Finally they charged us for the food which we didn't eat anyways!
Edit: This is in response to the owner's reply: Dear Owner, Your response clearly cements my point, which is you are too argumentative. Instead of arguing with the customers (even when they are in the middle of eating), please learn to improve your service. Take this review as scope for you to improve.
You clearly misunderstood when I wrote " they charged us for the food which we didn't eat anyways!" I was only referring to samosas, not biryani. Don't twist the language for your sake! It's because of the biryani, I gave you 2 starts instead of 1. We ate all because we were really hungry, and we "paid" for it.
And please don't lie here about returning the food. If you call taking a single bite as 3/4, then you need to check what 3/4 means! I hope you understand one needs to taste the food first to judge it.
Even after requesting you very politely at the restaurant, you came to our table thrice to justify why there is no "salt" in the samosas.
Let me reiterate for the other customers: YOUR BIRYANI WAS DECENT BUT YOUR SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! Also, if your samosa is flavorless/saltless, then you need to mention it on your menu so people expecting a traditional samosa can decide if they want to order it or not!
YOU CAN'T SELL WAFFLES AND CALL IT A PIZZA on your menu; and then expect people to understand by themselves(Just an analogy...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped into Cumin on the second night they were open. I'm not Indian but I have to say it was the most authentic I have ever had. They brought flat crisp and chutneys to the table shortly after seating us and pouring some ice water. All three chutneys were very tastey but the parsley one was our favorite. My wife ordered the Malai Kofta to which she exclaimed "it is the best I have ever had." Indeed I sampled a bite and whole heartedly agreed. Also, she ordered the coffee which was, "perfectly creamy, sweet, and strong." I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo which was fantastically spicy and the chilli red color brought a grand smile to my face. The mango juice was awesomely thick and not overly sweet. I'm willing to bet their lassi is probably stupendous. The food is great and the staff was friendly even though they were stressed out. All in all it would have been a perfect evening if it hadn't of been for the discurtious diner who trounced in and seated himself and his family and then proceed to nitpick the service staff until we left. Here is an idea you yuppie scoundrel don't seat yourself as this is both rude to the staff and any other customers that may have been ahead of you. All good things come to those who wait and if you can't be patient enough to politely wait for your made-to-order food then go f??? yourself or cook your own meals you f!!!!!!! elitist pr!!!. Thank you Cumin for bringing some culture into the Bible Belt of the Midwest! I love your...
Read moreThis is probably my favorite restaurant in West Michigan. The food is always amazing, portion sizes are great, staff is friendly - what more could you ask for? I used to live in the area when they first opened and have moved away several years ago, but still a modest day trip away. Since Covid has started tapering down I've started making my way back to Grand Haven just to eat here... Boy how I've missed this!
If you are vegetarian you will love the number of options you have. My favorite is the baigan bharta. Everything is wonderful - ranging from the appetizers with samosas or onion bhaji to entrees ranging from the aforementioned baigan bharta, chana masala, or the aloo gobi.
If you aren't vegetarian, no worries! If you are new to Indian cuisine, get the Chicken Tikka Masala. Sensitive to spice? Ask for just a touch or a 1 (out of 5). If you aren't new to Indian, other great options include the korma, Tandoori chicken, or vindaloo too!
You can't go wrong with anything here if you aren't spice sensitive. Even if you are, just make sure to be up front ahead of time. I've had this place dozens of times for a reason and plan to continue to make the drive from out of town when...
