Taco Jalisco — Restaurant in Grand Haven Charter Township

The Atmosphere - The Decor is a cross between a sports bar, and a Mexican cafe, but with a modern industrial twist which unfortunately negatively impacts the dinning area's acoustics. When it's busy, the echo makes table conversation nearly impossible.  Also the booths are stylish but need a serious scrub down. The  Service - A food runner set Chips and salsa down right away whiling leaving menus for us to review. Then we waited 22 min for our server to greet us, and take our drink / food orders! Our server's name was Juan. He was friendly and accommodating when we placed our orders, but then we never saw him again.... Like ever! Where did Juan go? I Hope he's ok. I had to ask another server or bussing staff for napkins, a to-go box, and for the check. We didn't even attempt to ask for a refills. The Food - The food came out rather quickly (only timely part of the experience) We ordered off the Lunch specials menu #1 speedy Gonzales Customized for beef tacos on corn tortillas with lettuce, cilantro, and queso fresco cheese. One chicken enchilada and I selected rice as my side. **The queso fresco cheese was cut off and just kind of popped on top. It was not crumbled or dispersed evenly for flavor. The beef was dry but not nearly as dry as the chicken. The meat tastes like it was pre-cooked and then reheated in a microwave. The enchilada sauce was good, but it was sucked up so quickly by the dry chicken that it was not very pleasant to eat. The rice however... THE RICE WAS COOKED PERFECTLY and it had great flavors! #16 two taco special with double order of rice (instead of beans) • My son also said the tacos had a good seasoning /flavor, but he also mentioned the dryness of the beef in combination with the thick chunks of cheese. He also really enjoyed their rice however.

The service - end of meal = total time 29min After another Long wait (more than 10 min) I interrupted a staff member who was going to clear another table to request the check. Then we still waited another 10 min for the check and one small container After another five min or so I just walked up to register to cash out myself. I waited another 4 min to pay my bill. The server who cashed me out was though we had a to go order. When he realized we were just trying to cash out, he finished the transaction and just walked away to go back to his life... Like cool ... Bye.

• Disclaimer / "gain of salt" * - I may seem a bit more harsh with this review because I have dined at this particular restaurant previously and the food / service were substantially better back then. So this experience was even more so...

[UPDATE] Even though we had one slight mess up, we've been here a few times since and ordered from lakeshore delivery and it's been good. Sadly we do not use Lakeshore delivery service much any more because all their fee's are ridiculous. So have to go into the restaurant again soon. Wanted to put my review to 5 stars because they are good. Sometimes mistakes happen. [/UPDATE]

We've been here a couple times and the food was great. We also order delivery through lakeshore delivery, about once a month or so. We never had much trouble until this last time. Few days ago we ordered food for 4 people. Everything was perfect except mine. I ordered the mini taco sampler, my favorite, and all that was on the tacos was the meat. They always come with tons of onions and cilantro, reason I love them. But it's like they completely skipped putting on the toppings. How is that possible? It tasted good, but quite disappointing without anything else on them. We passed this on to lakeshore, but nothing was done, never heard anything from any one. So guessing they did not even bother to let the restaurant know. Kind of reluctant to order delivery again, don't know if we'll get...

Wow worst food of any kind ever. wife and i were excited to try. She got taco salad i got taco burrito combo. My taco shell was stale with dry unseasoned chicken and lettuce no cheese sour cream cilantro nothing. Terrible. The burrito was just full of the same dry unseasoned chicken nothing else no other filling just dry chicken. It was topped with what appeared to be jarred pizza sauce and a mozzarella like cheese. When i asked the waiter why just chicken in the burrito and no lettuce sour cream or anything he said only chicken and tortilla and shrugged. My wifes taco salad was dry and tasteless. I love to cook and eat mexican food. I make mexican style tacos and street corn at home. This was hands down the worst mexican food i have ever had. It is an affront to mexico chicken and strangely to pizza sauce as well. And it cost 28 bucks plus tip. Im not one too send food back or complain but this was just terrible paid our bill left and vowed...
