This bar has been a usual place for me, especially since they offer free pool on Monday & it's a nice atmosphere. But since the last encounter I had with two bartenders, one of whom, I believe is the owner, I'd say that this joint is catty & some of the regulars are stuck-up. As I was sitting in the middle of a pool game, the owner approached me and asked, "Is it true that you come in every Monday for pool and don't buy anything?" To which, I replied, "Not every Monday, and I do buy things when I feel like it." She replied, "Well, we like to keep the pool tables available for the paying customers." I told her that I did not know where she heard that I failed to purchase anything at the bar on any given Monday that I show up, because it is simply untrue. (Just the week before, I racked up an $100 tab for just me & my step-father.) She then walked away. Something didn't sit right with me so I finished my game & walked up to the bar to discuss what had been said to me. I asked the bartender, "Is there a problem?" I don't remember her name, but she explained to me in her words that I apparently stay on the pool table every Monday for hours, without buying anything, which again, is false, & that I make people feel uncomfortable. I replied, "Sometimes I like to get hammered, sometimes not. Sometimes I may purchase a coffee and Baileys'. Other times, I may buy a couple of pitchers. How do I make people feel uncomfortable?" She then proceeded to explain to me the other apparent issue which is that she's had customers come tell her how uncomfortable I make them & that I "hog" the pool table, in her words. Hardly even a reasonable sentence since we're all adults at this establishment. If anyone decides they want to play, they can simply walk up to the table, call dibs, put quarters down & take the table. I stay to myself & hardly speak to anyone unless they approach me, so I was very confused at the comment about making people uncomfortable. I've never had problems with people also wanting to play. If they ask for the table, it's theirs. Or, they try to beat me off the table. If you can, cool. If not, you can still have the table. Just use your words like an adult. Suffice to say, if people are too uncomfortable to walk up to the table to put quarters down, it sounds very much like a personal problem, not one you should hold me accountable for. So, I have to use logic now: Let's say, on every Monday, I racked up an $100 tab, you know, like that one Monday a week ago, you'd still have a problem.....I'd still be on that pool table, supposedly making people feel uncomfortable. Guess what? You'd still be left with problem #2. These bartenders were very rude, and proceeded to talk about me behind my back as I left. This isn't high school, ladies. Grow up. Tell your regulars to learn how to act like adults, and while you're at it, you...
Read moreSo if you are looking for a place similar to a VFW this is the place to go. Drinks and food are cheap. However, service wasn’t the best and the food wasn’t great either. The Bartender served the tables and seemed like she couldn’t keep up, because we had to keep getting her at the bar to serve us. We waited so long for her to tend to us we just stopped ordering beer. The food was something you could make better at home. Nachos were very basic with horrible chips and the wings didn’t have much meat on them. Also the wings weren’t dunked in the sauce you ordered it with and was served on the side. Overall, not the...
Read moreWell, this place has a lot to offer, you just have to keep your eyes open and your mind engaged. I think you can actually find anything you want here on an intellectual level and this place can move your spirit in any direction you allow. The menu appears to be classic bar food, I didn't have my reading glasses. One of the bartenders suggested the "best cheese burger in town". I didn't eat. Prices struck me as a bit steep for this corner tavern, but nothing bad. They do have $2 PBR bottles...PBR, lol. So, if you're passing by on your way, say, to or from Fricano's or The Clover Bar, consider a stop, or...
