Le Bon Macaron — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

First, the aesthetics are beyond amazing. The ladies did a fabulous job. I really felt like I was in a fairy tale on the outside and inside of the shop. Inside and outside of the shop is spotless and clean. They have so many flavors of macaroons to choose from, and they are so very well made. They are fresh and appealing. The packaging is top notch. Their coffee and sodas are fantastic. They also have an extensive tea menu which I believe is local. So many choices. If I had coffee already that morning, I would have tried tea. We ate outside it was such a gorgeous morning. The ladies there are so sweet and friendly. I don't currently live here but I am moving back and I will visit again. My 12 year old son said that when he grows up he would take his girlfriend here

I was very disappointed with the macarons I purchased. They are a guilty pleasure of mine so I ordered a pack of 12 for $30 plus 2 single cookies for my son. I ordered 10 flavors in total and was very disappointed by the lack of flavor. As a baker with a lot of experience baking macarons, it was surprising that such a lovely establishment served such bland cookies. Most of them tasted the same (typical almond flavor of macarons) with no variation aside from the colors. Even the passion fruit cookie was bland and lacked any fruit flavor. The cookies were also hollow…every single one. For anyone familiar with baking macarons this is a big failure! For $2.50 a cookie I think these are way overpriced. Never had a macaron. Actually seen them on master chief and researched where I could find some near me that were fresh of course. This cute little place popped up. We went down and tried them. Perfectly made and a bunch of flavors. I wanted to try them all but I personally tried the Chocolate and Blue Raspberry. Spot on with the chocolate flavor and texture. The blue raspberry reminded me of the sour punch straws, I love them. Very fruity flavors. I got the Hot chocolate to drink. Took home Lemon, Pina cola, Pumpkin spice latte, hocus pocus and chocolate raspberry. My mom tried the dark chocolate and lemon. Husband had heavenly cream and another just can't remember.
