Furniture City Creamery — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I experienced an unflattering interaction with staff which was beyond unprecedented in today's national climate. I intended on simply enjoying my ice cream but instead, the young team member had a negative counterreaction towards every inquiry I made and insulted my intelligence. I couldn't identify if the team member was male or female and I don't want to misidentify their gender so I will refer to them a Zir.

Zir refused to scoop my ice cream in the cone I paid for and then insisted on me scooping it myself in my truck.. I was perplexed. I told Zir I didn't want to make a mess doing it myself and I would appreciate it if they could do it for me. Zir THEN proceeded to tell me that a mess will be made in my truck with the cone anyway. I was infected at this point and I gave Zir a piece of my mind and said that they failed that evening on providing customer service.

As I mentioned to Zir, I didn't want to write a review but as a consumer and a business owner, I was compelled to write this for the business owner's sake. The ice cream tastes good but the customer service...

I'll start by saying we go here very often. Especially when the weather is nice.

Ice cream is really good! Most of my experiences here are positive.

but sometimes the service is weird.

What do I mean? There could be a line out the door (small place - maybe half a dozen people fills up the store), and there are two employees working. Employee 1 is taking orders, and ringing up customers. Doing it all. While employee 2 is just, making waffle cones or something? Totally ignoring the line of customers. Like not even acknowledging there is a line. They were prepping something. In the middle of service. I'd get if they ran out and needed more, but this happens pretty often. This makes it take FOREVER. Like 30 minutes to get through half a dozen people. Makes no sense.

I've also seen one employee in particular treat customers like they are stupid for asking questions. Like they are an annoyance.

I'll end with saying again, the ice cream is usually very good. Especially the typical ice cream flavors. Butter Pecan is...

The ice cream itself was fine, it was tasty!

But thats where the positivity stops. I just got back from this place and had a less than satisfactory experience. My friends and i walk in and we were excited to try the lucky charm ice cream. We had read about online. All 4 of us ask to try the ice cream, we were met with sigh and see she begrudgingly took out the spoons. Then her co-worker walked by and they both shared a very RUDE and UNNECESSARY side glance and eye-roll! After that we were very uncomfortable but we still wanted ice cream so we stayed. We asked questions about the different ice creams and she would give one word answers and it seemed like she just wanted us to leave. The customer service was NOT good. We were treated poorly and i don't think i will be returning and neither will my friends! I will not advise people to go there either. Get better customer service, this is your job!
