Wow. This space is beautiful. Honestly, I couldn’t get enough of it, and I even included a bathroom shot in here because it’s no less part of the wonderful experience of tasteful paint, arrangements, furniture, and refreshing lack of busyness. Full disclosure, I’m not a wine drinker, so this isn’t your review for vetting that. I AM a coffee drinker, and they serve Sey Coffee from NY (which is good stuff). If their wine selection and service is anything like the intentionality that seems to be in everything else, that will also be worth your time. There is some outdoor seating in the back. Chateau is open for coffee in the morning and into the late afternoon, and while I’m sure they still serve coffee upon request, they make a restaurant shift toward wine parties at around 4ish. I continued to finish a few work emails during that transition, and while glasses were being put out on tables all around me, I didn’t receive pressure to leave, which is great! But I’m sure they would appreciate the help achieving the feel for their evening without laptops and books...
Read moreWent for a coffee Saturday morning. Place is beautiful and spacious; they also serve pretty good coffee.
A few things that turned me off: the staff was not friendly or hospitable. It seemed as though they were frustrated to be working there and didn’t want to be there. I’m not sure if they’re aware that they are in the hospitality industry and if they don’t want to be there, then they should find a different career. The other thing that turned me off was when I asked the barista for a coffee recommendation; he replied with “well they’re all good”, and that was it. What a laughable statement! He was either clueless on the coffee they serve or is terrible at his job. I question the person in charge of training their staff. Being a new place, you’d think they’d welcome you and make you feel as if they’re happy to have you. All in all, it was a cold welcome to a new place in GR, but I am willing to...
Read moreI was really excited about this place but it kinda fell flat. We went on Friday night and despite it not being busy at all didn’t get very attentive service. When we first arrived the door seemed locked and because there was barely anyone inside we almost left but someone came and let us in. The wine was good but all at pretty high price points ($15-$20 per glass). We had two different people helping our table and they often both left before we had finished our sentence so we didn’t get a chance to order food until we had already been there for a half hour because they never came back to check on us. Most of the time the employees were on their phones behind the counter. There were only 2 other tables there. This place has a lot of potential if they can mix in some better price point wines and up their service because it could be...
