Read moreI’m a pretty harsh critic of coffee shops and products, which is why I don’t have many of those reviews on my page. Generally speaking, I’ve narrowed my criteria to vibe, then product, recognizing supply chain, cost and other variables in my personal assessments. What I admire about Lotus Brew is that a lot of thought seems to have gone in to the business structure. Whether it’s food and drink offerings and brands, events, hours, or staff - care and thought has been put into it.
All that to say, there are a wide variety of drinks and everything I have tried has hit the mark. The cold brews are very good even without milk or syrup, and I think my favorite seasonal drink so far has been the lavender lemon matcha latte, iced.
Food options are in line with a cafe - very good bagels with real butter, quality pastries and options for those with special requirements like low sugar, and dairy-free. I should note they carry almond milk. They also have a menu of mocktails.
The vibe is cozy and option-filled as there is a well stocked library, a community board full of diverse locals to support, a good amount of seating. The events are likewise diverse and thoughtfully community-focused.

Read moreHad a lovely first visit at Lotus Brew today! I arrived around 10:30am and was pleasantly surprised that it was easier than I thought to find a parking spot. I also had a decent time finding a spot for myself and my laptop to get some work done. I ordered a dirty chai, and couldn't help but treat myself to a matcha cheesecake for breakfast. Everything was delicious, and the service was lovely!
Other notable things about my visit: the Fiber Arts group met today! I couldn't join bc I sadly had to work, but the group looked like they were having such a good time that I'm tempted to join in the future! the space had a banned book library, which I adored!! Such a big collection of books being checked out for free, and I hope to donate and also borrow some soon. there's also a small food pantry in the space, which is super great and thoughtful.
Overall, I loved my first visit, especially that it was such a queer-affirming & joyful environment! I'm excited that they'll be moving to my neighborhood, East Hills, this fall, with more plans for community engagement and an even bigger space to host.
Thank you Lotus Brew!...
