Food is alright, can be bland in my opinion. I go here more out of convenience than anything. My biggest issue is that about 40% of the time, my order is incorrect. I always specify things like "No carrots" or "No beansprouts", but a little under half the times I still get these items. For their noodle dishes, when I specify "No carrots", they will put "No garnish carrots" as the descriptor and so I always end up getting the diced carrots that come in the curry pad thai, which is extremely annoying. I always have to double check my items before I take them home. They are nice about remaking my food when it is incorrect, but I don't always have time to stand around for another 15 minutes while they remake it. I wish they would be better about reading the order receipts, these mistakes would not happen if they were a little more attentive. It wasn't even busy today but the girl put beansprout garnish on my food, and I didn't have time to wait for another one as I was grabbing food right before I was heading to work. I shouldn't have to feel like it is a gamble whether my food will be made correctly when I come here. If you are a bit picky with your food and have certain specifications, this may not be the best place to go to. I don't come here as much due to this reason, and decided to try again today but once again there was something incorrect...
Read moreRak Thai used to be our go-to place to get Pad Thai. Their Pad Thai was delightful - the sauce was amazing, there was a huge helping of peanuts and cilantro and carrots and bean sprouts. It was our favorite!
Now that they've changed their menu and moved into a bigger space, they've drastically changed their Pad Thai. It now tastes and looks like every other restaurant's Pad Thai, which is to say, boring. They also used to have amazing crab rangoons, but have since taken those off the menu too.
We're super disappointed and will not be going back, sadly, as we can just make our own Pad Thai if we want flavor and veggies in it.
The service is wonderful, as is...
Read moreI usually order online, so I can't speak to the restaurant atmosphere. Rak Thai is in my regular rotation for Thai food, and I prefer it over many of the other Thai restaurants in Grand Rapids, so I eat here quite a bit. My favorite is the curry pad thai, but I do also like their peanut noodles, rak fries and bangkok bulgogi. I love that there are five different spice levels, and they really don't hold back. I usually eat everything at rak hot and it's nice and spicy, but it doesn't drown out all the great flavors. The new mochi donuts are awesome and I have a soft spot for the taro flavor. Order accuracy is perfect every time and food...
