A Hero’s Journey to the Van Andel Arena: A Tale of Snow, Stuffed Animals, and Two-Dollar Hot Dogs Our epic begins on a snowy, icy road, where I, an out-of-town traveler, embarked on a perilous quest to the Van Andel Arena, home of the Grand Rapids Griffins. The treacherous parking situation proved my first trial—locals, clearly seasoned in the art of arena navigation, zipped into spots while I, the hapless outsider, wandered like a hockey puck without a stick. Yet, I persevered, determined to witness the great battle on ice. Entering the arena, I was greeted by friendly staff who must moonlight as cheerleaders, for their smiles could melt the iciest Michigan winter. My spirits were lifted. My bladder, however, demanded attention. I feared the worst—horrors of sticky floors and questionable cleanliness—but lo! The bathrooms were immaculate. It was a sign from above that this journey might not be so grim. Suitably refreshed, I armed myself with provisions: hot dogs and beer, a mere $2 each on this magical night. Yes, you read that right. TWO DOLLARS. I questioned if I had stumbled into some alternate reality where concessions don’t require a second mortgage. The game itself was a spectacle worthy of legend. The Griffins fought valiantly, dragging the battle into overtime and ultimately to the drama of a shootout. Victory! The arena erupted in cheers, and suddenly, the air was filled with flying stuffed animals. Yes, in a heartwarming twist, the locals hurled plush critters onto the ice, all in the name of supporting a children’s charity. It was chaos. It was joy. It was as if hockey and a toy store had collided in the best possible way. The locals, I learned, hold no love for Green Bay or Wisconsin in general, a sentiment expressed in the grumblings of the fans. Their loyalty to their own, however, was unshakable. Families cheered, strangers high-fived, and even my crew of weary travelers felt like part of the community. As the final horn sounded and we emerged victorious into the snowy night, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction. The arena was clean, the staff was delightful, and the Griffins had delivered a game for the ages. Parking challenges aside, it was a night of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and, most importantly, $2 hot dogs. Would I return to Van Andel Arena? Absolutely. This was no mere hockey game—it was a hero’s journey, and I can’t wait to don my traveler’s cloak and do it all again.

I recently went to the People's Tour featuring Quinn XCII with special guests ARIZONA and Julia Wolf at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. The concert was amazing and the venue was perfect! The acoustics at Van Andel Arena were incredible. The sound was clear and crisp, and you could hear every word of the songs. The arena is also very spacious, so there was plenty of room to move around and dance. There were plenty of concession stands and merch tables throughout the arena, so you never had to go far to get what you needed. The restrooms were also well-maintained and clean. Getting in and out of the arena was very easy. There were plenty of parking options available, and the security lines moved quickly. The best part of the show was ARIZONA. They were so energetic and engaging, and they really got the crowd involved. They even brought out a random fan to play drums on stage with them! Overall, I had a great experience at Van Andel Arena. The venue is perfect for concerts, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to see a show! 🤩 - The acoustics were amazing! 💃 - The crowd was so energetic! 🥁 - ARIZONA brought out a random fan to play drums on stage! 💯 - I had a great time!

I went and saw the concert Styx and Foreigner. I wasn't able to watch the final show-Styx; however, the sound was decent. Foreigner band stated they had lack of money to put on a great show. Stated they were on a financial budget. Foreigner played good but it did seem to me that the Lead Singer was tired. Tired in the aspect of impressing live shows in performance. I am uncertain to why the Lead Singer bent over to show the crowd his butt. To me that was a bit odd. The Light Show for Foreigner was cool. I especially enjoyed the drummers' performance at the end of the show. I spent $40.00 on my ticket, which, the event was almost or sold out completely. I do know some tickets went as high as $100.00 each. Like the band, I was also on a budget. I think I would attend more concerts at Van Andel Arena in the future if tickets were $40-$50 each. I cannot afford $300-$500 tickets. I hope singers and/or famous people understand that most working class families can't afford hundred dollar tickets. Sincerely, Miss Keller

Having not been to the Van Andel Arena in a long time, I wanted to take my 3 year old son there to see Disney On Ice. We got there early, so I could find a decent place to park and be able to know where we needed to go to get in and seated. Going there early, he needed to use the restroom, no public restrooms, but according to the sign on the hockey shop, they have one at the BOB and at Bigby Coffee across the street. So we walked over there, just to find a sign on their door that says no public restrooms, only for customers. I think the Van Andel should get their act together and if your going to offer to let people come in an hour before the show, you should be able to allow them to use your restrooms. I find it redicoulous that you don't. Especially for children. The seats we had were really good and the view was perfect. However, you might want to have people not tell everybody they have to walk upstairs, just to have to walk back downstairs when their seats are on the floor.

I hadn't seen a concert in Van Andel in about 20 years because I generally prefer the smaller venues for live music. However, Van Andel delivered some of that small venue feel but with a crowd of 10,000+. Good acoustics and sound quality from my seat, none of that echoey effects you get in some arenas. Super helpful and friendly staff. Enjoyed talking to one of the ushers about all the shows he had seen at Van Andel over the past 25 years. I didn't have floor seats, 1st row of the arena seating- what I liked best is the aisles on the arena seating are really wide. You don't have to stand up or even scrunch up your legs much when someone needs to move past you. You can stretch out your legs during the show. Only negative is food and drink are at typical over priced arena prices. Triple header, The Castellows, Sugarland and Little Big Town provided 3-1/2 hours of great music in a comfortable setting.

This place is part of my life. I have so many wonderful memories here with family and friends from concerts to basketball, hockey ice-skating, the circus, monster truck shows WWE, I am a boy mom, so we have visited this place a lot. THIS arena is one of the best investments this community has made. It is full of great staff, who are helpful and knowledgeable. The building is super functional with bathrooms EVERYWHERE…which I love. The arena is super clean all the time. There is also a big variety of food and drink. I just did not see Pizza. I think Pizza would be a good fit. I guess that would be my only “complaint “They have chicken fingers, hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, GOOD popcorn, and the walking tacos are really good. I usually get those. I feel like all of the seats in the house are pretty good. There’s a great view all around. I’ve sat at almost every angle.
