River City Saloon — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

A female employee scolded me for stepping outside (smoking area) with a drink in my hand. Told me it was Michigan law to keep drinks in the bar. (I was just letting our party know we were heading out). I felt singled out because i was black. I told her that she noticed my drink stepping outside the bar but didn't notice 3 white women bring drinks in your bar?? She said in her defense that she had earphones on lol and had not been there long, but it was long enough for you to single me out. We had been in the bar about an hour by then. I told her we were about to have a teachable moment because I was with the white girls that brought the drinks in. I've included proof so I can back my experience up. We gotta do better, River City frfr. The waitress was told several times that our drinks were covered and still charged some of the party goers. Our gracious friends covered everyone's tab at each bar as we were on a party bus celebrating a birthday. The drinks were great, and so were the seasoning they used on their fries. Large bar on the Westside of GR, MI. The three sections of the bar include:

The front area is where the entrance/exit is located. There are 2 doors (one on each end of the bar). This is where you find the bar, itself, seats/barstools at the bar, separate booths, the Women's Restroom, and a small kitchen. The middle section of the bar is where the live music takes place. There is a stage, dance floor with mirrors, jukebox, and tables/chairs for small to large groups. The back is the game room area, which includes tables/chairs for groups, 2 pool tables, 4-5 Nudgemaster machines, Keno, Pull Tabs, Golden Tee, and the Men's Restroom.

This is a popular place for locals to hang out, as well as those who like live music (weekends). Throughout the week there are also pool leagues that play here. They have a wide variety of menu items, which are all great. Because of the variety of activities and people in attendance, I would recommend this bar to anyone. My original post gave 4 stars but since my last visit it has changed to 2 stars the reason being I ran a tab and tipped the 2 waitress' (who are by far the best two bar waitresses in the city) and they charged my card the proper amount that has cleared my bank. Thought everything was good but what they don't tell you is they put a hold of just over $40.00 on my card and when I called to question it I was told someone would call me back within the hour and a day later I called them again and was told there is no one there to take care of it.
