I really valued my experience here today and its a priority to uplift this business with the attention they've earned. It was clear nearly immediately that this place appreciates its customer. No question. Asked about closing time and then quickly wished I'd arrived earlier. The shop tender (owner maybe? - i hope so :) quickly followed up- saying that staying open later may happen. She must've picked up on my regret at not arriving sooner and she offered a solution. Unprovoked. They had such a diverse selection of quality pieces! SO much to dig into! Well organized, trending like they were hand picked, but something for everyone, at the same time.
I overheard as this kind human welcomed customer after customer to the store. offered a later closing time to them as well " We may close soon as its slightly after hours but please do take some time to look around!" Shared info about an upcoming clothing swap (Leave what ya can. Take what ya need type event). She made conversation, and complimented people's children, asked questions to her shoppers and answered any of theirs with patience. All of it!
She patiently waited while I tried things on (after close!) and even let new customers in, same time! She warmly offered advice when I asked for it (honest advice- not the sales driven kind, theres a clear diff). I wouldn't advise staying after close anywhere but she honestly made me feel like she wanted me there as a customer (as it becomes less common, this really stood out to me). When I told her I was short business clothes for a conference I attended this weekend, she offered a helping hand upon checkout and I can see where the store got its name. â¤ď¸Even knowing i was an out-of-towner. This wasn't just shopping, it was an experience and the kind of connection we've all been missing post-covid, in daily interaction. If you're reading this, I hope you'll consider giving this business some love. They're doing all the right things, with clear, genuine intentions. Thats the kind I can actually enjoy putting some $ behind. Grateful...
Read moreThis place makes me so happy! The ladies who work/volunteer there are so friendly and funny that I want to hang out with them outside shopping. And Second Hand (ham) Sam is adorable! He met us as soon as we walked in and allowed us to worship his royal chonkiness. The front of the store is curated like a vintage shop. We found several nice vintage sports coats for $10 (let me admit that another vintage shop locally wanted $75 for theirs). I found several trendy pieces suitable for work and play, all for between $5-7/piece. They also have a small selection of articles that they hand printed, decorated ,sewed cool patches on... and still reasonably priced! I appreciate that there is a nice variety of sizes and styles, I found things for myself in small and a few items that my 70 year old thicky-thick mom will love. If I lived in Grand Rapids, I would live...
