Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Granite City

Went to Penn Station in Granite City IL last night for dinner. My total would have been $28.53. WARNING to ALL: I witnessed a manager eating at a table right across from the counter where I paid. The manager then finished his meal, walked through the food making area without mask while drinking a soda. He then put hand sanitizer on his hands and started to take my sandwiches out of the oven. I stopped him and asked him to please wash his hands before touching my food ( they do not wear gloves). He then tried to educate me that sanitizer was better than soap & water. I replied with I just watched you eat a meal will you please wash your hands. He said no. I could go on but the bottom line is the manager on duty never washed his hands, I got a refund,no I did not accept the food and I will NEVER return to that location. Even before COVID in the food service industry it is a GOLDEN RULE to wash your hands to prevent cross contamination. The RGM would not speak to me today,stating he was too busy. Too busy to control food safety? At the end of the day eat at this location at your own risk COVID...

Please please have your servers where hair nets or do something…this guy had stringy blonde hair hanging over making my sandwich. Any moment I could just visualize a hair falling out of his head and into my food I couldn’t get over the thought of this while I was standing there waiting 30 minutes ….. they are very nice people, but they just need to figure out this hair thing and the sandwiches are always good. You need some additional information OK the store is located on Nameoki Road…,I’m sure the store owner would be at Nameoki Road. kid had long blonde stringy hair. He wore glasses and he is skinny in his hair was hanging and flopping all over the food what additional information...

Workers here aren't rude or anything, you can just tell they don't want to be there at all... Which is understandable. While waiting for my food, I saw a huge rat come walking out of the back area near the bathrooms.... Not sure if there's a storage room back there or something...I don't know. Anyway, the rat didn't even run, just moseyed on out like he ran the joint and walked over behind the counter where they were making food. None of the workers seemed to notice him.... He was pretty chill... It was like it was a standard day for everyone. Literally never seen rats just walking around anywhere else I've ever eaten, so I guess I can mark that off my...
