Buoy’s southern kitchen & more — Restaurant in Granite City

We gave this local restaurant a try and it was our first and Last time. We went there to celebrate my birthday and it was beyond disappointing😩😠🤨 I really wanted to give this restaurant an opportunity to become our go to place.... unfortunately that's not how it worked out. Everything we ordered was sickeningly Salty 🧂 to the point of being inedible due to their lemon pepper seasoning. From the moment we walked in, until we left, it was a horrible experience 💔 It was insanely Hot 🔥 inside this establishment. I thought their AC was broken, because it was miserably hot inside. I told the lady behind the counter and it didn't matter to her. The fact that their dining room was close to empty on a Saturday evening should've indicated what we were in for. I’m a hard critic to please, and I never leave reviews unless they are negative because I truly want something to be done about the service at whatever establishment I leave one at.The owner and all of his staff was pretty Amazing! I just acquired some rentals in granite and I hope this place stays this way. This is not an exaggeration, lie, or paid review… if u want SEASONED, hit,served timely food, that’s not skimpy on the portion,and taste delish for a fair price-this is the new spot. I do not often leave reviews. However I felt I needed too here. I absolutely love southern cooking and I have sorely missed amazing fried fish.

I got the 3 piece fish, red beans and rice, and green beans.

These were absolutely AMAZING! Perfectly seasoned, fried and TASTY! 10/10 WOULD ORDER AGAIN.

However I also ordered the Gumbo. And I love Gumbo. I love making Gumbo on a cold day in March. I was hopeful for place to get a quick and good bowl of it.

I have to say that is not here. I will say I am a harsh critic when it comes to Gumbo and will not hold it against this place on my review, because the fish was absolutely perfect. The Gumbo just wasn't quite dark enough or have enough flavor to it. Which is exceptionally hard to do in a restaurant setting so you don't waste it.
