My wife and I are the guardians of an 8 year old girl who originally came to us from foster care 3 years ago. Her story is too long and complicated to share here, but we have tried out best to allow some some sort of continued relationship with the biological mother. It was the mother's birthday today and we agreed to meet her half way from both our homes in Green Castle at the pizza king. We picked up a small cake and the girl wrote her mom a birthday card.
We arrived at Pizza King in Green Castle and were seated, but let them know we were waiting on one more person. After a half hour had passed, the mother had still not showed up, so went ahead and ordered and ate our food which tasted great. As we were finishing up, a gentlemen who I believe was the owner, walked up and asked if everything was good. He saw the cake and asked if it was someone's birthday. Our girl was starring out the window, still looking to see if her biological mother was going to arrive. We explained the cake and note was for her Mom, and we were expecting her, but she was not responding. We asked our girl if she wanted to go ahead and have a piece of cake, but she insisted it was for her mom. The owner saw all of this and while didn't know the full story, he could see the girl was sad. He offered to hold onto the cake and note in their cooler in case she showed up. We had already paid and were about to leave, when the staff brought out a freshly baked, large cookie for our sweet foster daughter. That really cheered her up.
If you are in the Green Castle area and are needing some food, please stop by the Pizza King. The deserve it. We don't live particularly close, but we will be...
Read moreThe Manager is insanely rude. I was provided a menu with a particular price. I'm a single mom with a two year old. I just wanted a decent lunch, and I picked the cheapest item there. When the bill came, it was almost double the price on the menu. When I asked my server (who was very nice), she said I'm really sorry, I gave you an old menu and we're changing prices. I told her I understood but asked her to honor that price since that's the price provided. She said she would ask and went to the back. I then heard an argument ensue between her and the manager. The server stuck up for me, and the manager insisted that it didn't matter what I was quoted, she wasn't changing prices. The Manager then came out and proceeded to speak to me like I was five, explaining I was given the wrong menu and that's just how it was. She tried to lie and say I technically got more food, but backtracked later when she realized she was wrong. I told her that I understood the menu was wrong but that was on them and they should at least honor the prices provided. To which she responded with "Well there's actually a clause in our menu and I can change the price at any time for any reason." By the way, the clause simply says "Prices are subject to change, based on availability." That does NOT mean you, as an establishment, get to just change the price whenever you feel, and double it for any customer you don't like. She told me "Thanks for coming though!" And I informed her She was incredibly rude and I would never be coming back. Instead of apologizing, she said she wasn't being rude, just stating facts. I feel bad for...
Read moreI went in to Greencastle Pizza King tonight to get a replacement from the last time I went in. The last time the pizza was burned to a crispy and nasty and breadsticks were nasty and they didn't give us the sauce we asked for. So I went in not too long ago to get the replacement order and the manager tried to make me pay for the breadsticks. She stood there and argued w me. First off I've worked in restaurants before so I know a replacement order is FREE. Now if the breadsticks last time were good and w correct sauce then yeah I would have paid for them. We order from there all the time and the last 3 times we ordered the food was burned and gross but we didn't say anything until the last time. I don't need or want free food. But if I call and order and say "lightly cook the pizza please" then your staff should read the ticket and make it correctly and you wouldn't have had to replace our order. Like I said the last 3 times the pizza was nasty and burned. This time it was good and made properly. I had to check it before I left. Service has definitely went downhill since this new lady took over. Hannah Hurst is awesome though!! Love her. Get it...
