I just had dinner at Bridges for the first time this evening. The facility was quite nice, a bit on the smaller side. The rooftop was quite nice but the limited menu didn't make a lot of sense given the options were very close to the restaurant, but still limited. Dessert options on the roof were also limited. We ate in the main dining to have the full menu options which I still felt were somewhat limited. More options could have been provided with the same or very few extra ingredients. I was going to order a hot tea with honey and a pizza. The tea options were not ideal and lacked several standard tea flavors, only orange and mint flavors were available, but no breakfast, no earl grey, no oolong teas. So I skipped the tea and went with Jam Jar wine. They didn't have pepperoni pizza which is a usual standard I always expect at any pizza place so I went with a standard cheese pizza. Before you make any other specialty pizza you first have to perfect the basic cheese pizza. In this case, Bridges didn't quite make the cut in my opinion. The sauce was very delicious only slightly sweet and slightly tart with little to no large chunks. The sauce was a good pick with good consistency. The cheese was far too limited. I added nearly twice as much extra Parmesan to balance the sauce flavor out. They should have cooked the pizza with at least twice as much mozzarella if not more. The cheese they used did have good flavor, but it was just far too limited in quantity. The dough was a very standard flavor, basic flour and salt. The crust had good rise to it, but the base was way to thin for my taste. If you like New York style pizza, you may enjoy this a bit more. I prefer a pizza slice with dough substantial enough to hold the toppings, this pizza could not be picked up from the crust without losing the toppings without support. The thin crust was not quite crispy but still firm to the point of requiring effort to cut with a fork edge. There was some grease on the top but minimal. Overall I would say the experience was fine enough. I would like to see a broader range of pizza topping options to select and build your own pizza and I'd like to see all of those options available on the roof top dining. With those changes, I'd likely give a 4 star review. With changes to the menu and pizza composition, then possibly a 5 star review. Hope this helps you decide...
Read moreOne word - amazing! No, spectacular! Being a Greencastle native and fellow foodie myself, I was so excited to hear of our budding culinary scene, and once I read opening statements amd reviews, not to mention the all star kitchen/bar lineup of Bridges, I knew I had to go. My mother and I arrived around 6:30 p.m on a Friday night to a packed house, and a beautiful venue at that. Knowing that just a few years ago, this location was usually empty, I was ecstatic to see the transformation. Unfortunately we had not made reservations but were able to sit at the bar, which in my eyes was the best seat because of the open kitchen. From the bar you're able to see all the going ons of the kitchen, from their wood-fire pizza oven/dressing station, to grill, to expo. As a guest who values how their food is made and treated, I found their open kitchen to be really amazing! We were treated to Truffle Popcorn and Grilled Octopus first thanks to our amazing bartender, Jon Parker, which was followed by the Butternut Squash Soup and Shrimp and Polenta. My mother surprisingly loved the octopus (she's not big on seafood) and said she could eat an entire entree of just the Shrimp and Polenta! My soup was equally to die for! Our appetizers were followed by two baked oysters courtesy of Chef Fernandez - also incredible! Our entrees of Pork Osso Buco and Spaghetti and Meatballs did not fail to continue to wow us! The bones slid right out of my pork, and my mother practically sighed out of satisfaction upon her first bite. Finally we gave in to indulgences and tried the Chocolate Torta. Oh. My. Goodness. What a way to finish a meal, even complete with gold dust! Their beer and wine selections are also primo, and they even had dessert cocktails! All in all, this was one of the absolute best dining experiences myself and my mother have ever had. Having worked in fine dining this past year, I can absolutely attest to the staff's attention to detail, flavor, presentation, and customer service. If you find yourself in Greencastle, or craving amazing fine-dining food, you absolutely must visit Bridges Craft Pizza...
Read moreI reserved a table online for the rooftop bar. It has been a very mild fall and I know they have heaters up there, and it was 70 degrees on the day I made the reservation. The website didn't say anything about the rooftop being closed and my partner left work early so we could catch sunset for our 5:30 reservation. So I was disappointed to get there and be told the rooftop was already closed for the season. If that is the case, it should be posted on the website. So they seated us downstairs at an 'okay' table for two. There were more intimate ones that they could have selected for us that were off by themselves. There was practically no one else in the main dining area and about 15 mins after we had been seated, they sat a four top of seniors literally RIGHT beside our two-top table. I could see at least 4 or 5 other empty four-tops and there was nothing special about the one they selected other than it was RIGHT BESIDE US. I could literally reach out and touch them. Why would the hostess select that table, especially during the height of COVID? I was tempted to ask to move, but we had already ordered our drinks by then and I didn't want to be the "that" customer. I order the cheese and charcuterie board and although everything on it was delicious, the 'bread' they served was some kind of flatbread and was paper thin. It was not sufficiently thick enough to even be able to easily spread the jams that came with it. Also, when I reserved our table online, I indicated it was my birthday, and nothing was done. It was not even mentioned. So overall, a disappointing experience due to all these factors. Also, please bring back the Maine lobster roll. As a plus, our waitress was...
