While this establishment has never excelled in customer service, we've usually been able to muster through a few glasses of something or other and finally land on something decent. Since their recent move, the larger space suited a relaxing evening better. The furniture is clearly made for budget residential use and is quite worn and uncomfortable but tolerable for an hour. Since the move staff have been a mix of friendly and outgoing and a vast swing to less likely to be of help selecting a wine or paying attention to customers waiting upwards of ten minutes for a refill. We had been refused a glass walking in half a hour to close and other nights had top notch service. Let me get to the most recent experience that has really prompted this review.
A nice sunny August Sunday for a patio. Fidning that was the ONLY way to patronize the establishment we managed to pull up the menu which was only digital on our phones. The digital menu promptly took us to an online ONLY ordering service. That's right, each glass or snack had to be ordered each time, paid and tipped. On top of that they refuse table service. You still have to enter the establishment and pick up your items yourself and bring them to the table. No interaction, no suggestions on what your style or glass should you want guidance. We did manage to go inside and request an alternate to an item no longer in the menu and we're steered far left and wrong. Not even a close flavor profile. Sad. Charcuterie wasn't what we ordered. It wasn't even worth getting up again to bother changing.
When we asked when service would continue to normal the employee with hair flat brim hat said "bro, this is serious. When there's a vaccine." Well, alright. We will be back probably never or when there's a vaccine for poor service. Had we known their new protocols force them to operate so poorly that initial tip promted by the app would not have been...
Read moreHad my baby shower here back in January and while the venue was well kept and the rental cost was very reasonable, I was very unimpressed with the staff. I (34 weeks pregnant) and my sister (20 weeks pregnant) as well as our younger sister who was only SIXTEEN years old, were all accidentally served alcohol. My mom requested non alcoholic mimosas to use up part of our rental cost that went towards drinks and food, but instead they served actual mimosas with alcohol. And then, even though my mom had copies of their email correspondence where she clearly stated the mimosas should be made without alcohol, the woman (possibly the owner) very rudely argued with my mom in the middle of my shower claiming that wasn’t what my mom had requested. I might have even ignored the mistake because, though it’s definitely a big mistake accidents do happen, if the woman hadn’t been so rude and was at least somewhat apologetic, but she wasn’t. Frankly, they’re VERY fortunate my mom didn’t make more of a scene, because there were several law enforcement present at this shower where they provided alcohol to a MINOR.
The food was okay. Definitely not worth the cost both in terms of taste and the small portions you got for the price.
My mom also said they weren’t the easiest to get answers via email to…sounds like my mom wanted to just call or meet to get all her answers at once but they insisted on discussing via email (which then again I suppose that worked in my moms favor, by providing her proof that she requested non alcoholic beverages only).
I don’t know, I guess if you need a venue on a budget this place will do, it really was a nice atmosphere, but I’d be very wary about drinking anything not in its original can/bottle unless you don’t care whether is alcoholic or non alcoholic and don’t expect super friendly service especially if...
Read moreOdd and uncomfortable experience. My wife and I both in our 60's along with my son and his girlfriend, both 24 and my younger son and his date 19 wanted to stop at Vintage 38 for a drink after dinner at Ricardo's. This was around 10pm and there was virtually nobody in V-38 at the time. We were refused service because of the 19 year old's in our group. They actually wanted to split us up and have the younger couple leave. Very off putting. In all my years I have never been refused service for havening my children with me. There is no law in Wisconsin that requires this and it is obviously house policy. 2 stars because I have been here in the past and enjoyed it. But this put a downer on the evening. Not...
