I did some research online trying to find a local farm that I could get my meat as well as poultry and eggs. Well I found Tyner Pond Farms. Well that then lead me to The Mug. The Mug is their restaurant where you get farm to table food. So I thought this was a good place to check out before heading to the farm to check out their selections.
Upon arriving I found that it is an old school drive up. We, however, did not order from our car. Instead we went inside and placed our order. I went with the double bacon burger, onion rings, and a jumbo (32oz) drink. We then went outside and waited for our food to come out. Since every thing is cooked to order and is incredibly fresh it took a little bit of time for our food to come out. BUT I don't mind waiting for quality.
When our food came out I was more than surprised with what came out. A massive burger with melted cheese, as they call "Mug Sauce" and other locally sourced fresh toppings. The onion rings were HUGE and amazing. They gave us what I believe was honey mustard sauce for the onion rings. My partner had the same burger and fries. The fries were great too! But what is most impressive is how friendly the employees were. I feel like I made a new friend tonight after the lengthy conversation we had with Emily (I really hope that is her name). She told us about upcoming ventures, where all their food comes from, and additional information about the farm.
After we finished our meal (which then ended up including the most amazing pork tenderloin that I have ever had) we ended the night with ice cream. It's epic! If you are in Central Indiana - GET TO THE MUG IMMEDIATELY. It is epic! It is worth it! And you more than get your...
Read moreI was visiting a friend in Greenfield and I picked this restaurant because we wanted to try something new. I wanted the pulled pork because I saw it on the online menu. But they had run out for the day. So I had to order something else. Our order was very simple. We got two single burgers, fries and a coleslaw. When I ordered my burger I didn't ask for any changes. I did ask about the mug sauce and what it tasted like. The cashier described it to me. And it sounded good. My daughter ordered extra lettuce on hers. The place was very busy. When you finally got our food we sat down outside and realized that our burgers had nothing on them but lettuce. No sauce, onion or tomato. So then we had to go back in and wait to get a side of these toppings. They were cold and so it brought the temp down on the burger. And the burgers were already getting cold because they had to sit there while we got the missing items. I didn't want to have to assemble it myself. It should have come out warm and made right. Honestly, it was very bland even with the sauce. The burger meat had no flavor. The crinkle fries were average. The coleslaw was not good. We didn't even eat but one bite. It was bitter and had too much vinegar. I will give this place another try and hope that they have what I really wanted originally. It's conveniently located to the park so I know in the summer it's going to...
Read moreWe came here for the drive up service for lunch. Once we finished looking at the menu, we flipped the switch to let the server know we were ready to order. We waited around 10-15 minutes, and just as we were turning on the car leave the server showed up. She took our order and brought water. We saw on the menu that there is usually a slightly longer wait. I thought since most places serve up hotdogs within 2-3 minutes, we might be waiting 10-15 minutes. Maybe 20 minutes at most.
We only ordered 3 hotdogs and fries to share. The server did not inform us that it was an average of 45 minutes to a one hour wait. We pre-payed for the food, so that meant if we wanted to cancel the order and leave, we would have to get out of our car and go inside to cancel. If we had known we would be waiting an hour for food, we would have gone some place else to begin with. This long of a wait was not acceptable for 3 hot dogs, even if they are made to order.
The person who brought our food out the car barely even apologized to us for the wait. She didn’t seem to care that the wait time was never discussed with us, and didn’t care that we were upset with it.
The food itself was ok, just kind of an average hotdog. Not something worth sitting in your car in a hot summer day, with tiny water cups, for nearly an hour to get. Needless to say I will never be...
