When first arriving, I didn't appreciate the fact that we weren't greeting and was expected to know that this establishment is self seat. I had to walk to the register, stop a waitress at the bar, and ask. After sitting down, we were promptly attended to by a very nice waitress. She was attentive to EVERYONE in the restaurant (even tables that weren't hers she was helping) and still managed to be prompt and courteous with her own section. She even was cleaning off the tables! While waiting for our food, I need to use the restroom, O noticed there is no sign to point you in the right direction. You have to either ask or walk around and hope for the best. Luckly the establishment is very big, so if you have never been here before it shouldn't be to hard to find, right? Our food order took a long while before we were able to eat, while waiting for our food I noticed a funny sign "notice, unattended children will be sold" hahaha, well I have a notice too! I have a two year old rambunctious son and when he is hungry he wants to be fed! So, Notice, every minute we aren't served food (past 30 min) a dollar will be deducted from our bill! Lol. Seriously though getting your food here takes awhile, so plan a day trip around eating here. Finally our food arrived. my husband and I ordered the country boy breakfast. The eggs were good, the bacon was perfectly cooked, the sausage was ok, the hashbrowns were a little under cooked and the biscuits and gravy was DELICIOUS. My husband said the grits were good too, (I dont like grits so I can't review on that.) Overall the visit was very pleasent. I would like to give a big thanks to our waitress(unfortunately I didn't...
Read moreAbsolutely Loved this place! We stopped in on our way to a music festival in Danville, VA. My friend wanted to stop because the name reminded him of an old South Park episode - I just wanted the local diner experience.
We were not disappointed. We stopped in am hour before close (2pm, I think), and were treated like Family. Our server was so wonderful, answering questions (Ex: What's the difference between a pancake and a griddle cake? Answer: Their griddle cake is made from a grits patty, so it ends up with a slightly crispy outer layer texture and the almost silky interior of warm grits. I ordered it and it blew my freakin' mind!), and when I told her this was my first experience with grits, she brought me a small bowl of buttery grits to try because theirs are so good. She Was RIGHT! Oh Mama, changed my life. I finally understand the obsession with grits!! I even mixed in a littler apple butter (which they just HAVE Sitting on the table!) toward the end, and my heart hurt a little when they were gone.
The sweet tea is a strong black tea, and the prices were great. We stayed full for 5 or 6 hours, even while rocking out in the Blue Ridge mountains. Please come enjoy a meal here and keep this...
Read moreWow back open again guess you want us to give you a second chance, ok. Had a good visit average simple food did not seem like any shortcuts were taken on food this time, but I'll try some more menu items as we go to see.
Maybe the fact they could not do simple food right like eggs or grilled cheese is why they are CLOSING. Bye Mark. Hope some place better opens here soon. Best wishes to the nice wait staff.
Not comming back You lost a regular customer. Mark If you can't do a Grilled ham & chs right it's not worth me spending my money Mcd's cooks better than this. But I gave local business many chances.Too many shortcuts or sub par food.
Great wait staff & coffee & Tea!!!!!!!
Not sure why cooks refuse to scramble eggs in a pan dry over cooked. Can't get fluffy scrambled eggs they all cook flat egg. Even Waffle House can do fluffy scrambled eggs or egg sandwich ALL DAY LONG. So I won't eat here as often or spend as much as I would if they cooked eggs more normally. Spend 50% less just getting pancakes or french toast than full meal. Also hard to get proper grilled cheese sandwich cooked on grill. Not just cheese on toast not the same thing. It...
