This place is managed by very kind, friendly, caring people who sincerely want you to have a great experience. They appear passionate about their business and the customer's satisfaction.
The place is compact, but very clean. A special mention to the fact they use ceramic plates and metal silverware, as opposed to the disposable containers and plastic cutlery the majority of places of this format prefer.
We have visited for both lunch and dinner over the past few months, and can confidently say everything we have been served has been supremely fresh. It definitely looks like the staff cares about procuring quality ingredients and uses proper techniques to store and cook them.
Unfortunately, and I'll be straight on about it, their food is severely lacking in flavor. Most of the items on the menu that our family has tried over four visits taste utterly bland. Hospital food bland! Yes, you can always ask for a salsa and add your own salt, however it is just not the same - when added to an already cooked dish, you're only affecting the surface of the food, the inside is still completely flavorless. Why is the chef so afraid of salt and seasoning?
Also, I hate to say it, but you can get more protein for the money most anywhere else along this street. Some of the dishes from the dinner menu are $18-19 a plate, yet have no more than 3-4 tablespoons of meat.
It is killing me to be dissing people who are genuinely good and kind and try so hard, but I'm hoping my review will help them improve their food. This is why I'm giving this restaurant four stars, not to drop their rating on google, even though at this point I strongly feel their food only deserves two to three stars.
We will revisit again in a couple of months in hopes the chef has made some changes to flavor profiles and macronutrient balance. This place shows a lot of promise for the future, once they correct their...
Read moreTLDR version: Eat here now!
Today was my third trip to Guisado's, and, honestly, I should have written a 5-star review for every trip. I cannot think of a reason why someone wouldn't want to eat here.
The location isn't the greatest. It's located in a little strip of shops including a chain sandwich shop and the obligatory vape shop. I worry that people might miss out on this wonderful place because the strip of shops won't draw their attention. But if you are willing to ignore their neighbors, you'll find the best Latin food in Greensboro. (And maybe the best I've ever had.)
I've only eaten here for lunch--which is a combo of rice, beans, and two "proteins." Every time I've been here, the selection of food on the lunch hot bar has been different. I've had ropa vieja, honey pork, eggs, and three different kinds of chicken. And all of it has been delicious. I haven't traveled enough in Latin America to know what is authentic, but I know what tastes good. The flavors are strong, and the things I've tried have been rich and savory. And the dulce de leche tostadas will make you want to rethink why the French get credit for French toast.
The service is also top notch. I think I've met everyone who works here. The chef and servers are more than willing to talk about their food and are dedicated to making sure you enjoy every bit of your meal. They've let me try samples of food I've never had before, and will make sure you are supplied with salsas, cremas, and tortillas while you eat.
This is the type of small, dedicated restaurant that should thrive here. The food is amazing, the prices accurate, and the service delightful. Support this place! I want to be eating here for years to come.
(And apparently, they start serving breakfast next week. Anyone feel up for a...
Read moreI had an excellent experience at Guisados! The restaurant was exceptionally clean, welcoming, and offered a wide variety of delicious options. The customer service was truly 10/10 — every staff member was kind, attentive, and made me feel right at home.
A highlight of my visit was when the owner personally came out from the kitchen to greet me. He took the time to chat and even offered me some of their homemade mole to try — such a thoughtful and genuine gesture that really stood out.
I ordered two menudos and chilaquiles, and everything was absolutely delicious. The chilaquiles, in particular, were outstanding — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Each plate was filled to the top and came with generous sides of salsa, cilantro, lime, and onions.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly restaurant that takes pride in great food, cleanliness, and top-notch service, Guisados is definitely the place to go. I’ll absolutely be returning...
