This is an updated review. I was contacted by LPFS after my last review and assured them that I would update my review, good or bad. We walked in and was immediately seated, our choice, inside or outside. April 1, 2024 was a beautiful day, so we opted for outdoor space.
After reviewing the Menu, we chose the Specials: Fired Chicken, Strawberry Jelly, Cilantro-Serrano Green Salsa, Lettuce& Tomato on Sourdough Our sides were: Roasted Poblano Corn Chowder Tomato Basil Soup Our Appetizer was: PARMESAN CRAB DIP pita chips And glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our wait staff was prompt and proposed a few options. All sounded excellent. We did ask to speak with the Manager Spencer, who quickly came to our table and was more than welcoming.
Our Dip came first, with both fried and warmed Pita Chips: AMAZING! The dip was light and simple. Not too many ingredients to hide the Crab. The variety of Pita Chips really accentuated the dip.
Our Sandwiches came, now I must say, I was not excited about this sandwich, the combination seemed ambitious and I was afraid it would be competing with itself for my taste buds. The sandwich DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! That Special was unbelievably good. The subtleness of the strawberry jelly with the Salsa was on point. The chicken was crisp and fried to perfection. The Sourdough Bread was toasted with butter and it was remarkably delicious.
The Soups, both were outstanding. They were at the perfect temperature and we were able to enjoy them between bites of our sandwich. My friend had the wine, and she said it was really good too! We were stuffed! We took home the second half of our sandwich, and it held up. It was really good.
Thank you LPFS for redeeming yourselves, I would recommend this location to anyone who ask for a great spot for lunch or dinner.
The only reason the Atmosphere is 4 Stars, the parking lot is small in this neighborhood, so it took a minute to find a spot. But we were able to find a...
Read moreAs the name suggests, the Filling Station once catered to gasoline rather than gastronomy. Don’t go looking for license plates and Shell stickers on the walls, though — the interior is elegantly minimalistic. Televisions are available if you want to watch a game, but the ever-present music may make paying attention difficult.
The Filling Station’s menu is geared toward lighter eats. Entrees are occasionally available on special, but you’re usually looking at something in the soup/salad/sandwich range. Whatever you order will likely bear the name of a local street or landmark, an added bonus for neighborhood folk.
The fare here is served with flair. Nut crusted goat cheese with marinated portabella mushrooms, a salmon salad with walnuts, goat cheese and lemon poppyseed dressing over a bed of baby spinach and a fried green tomato/herbed mayo/cheddar on Texas toast sandwich all show creativity and refinement. Even more conventional options are given a dash of the upscale: pita and hummus comes with both the black bean and red pepper varieties, while burgers include touches like basil aioli and caramelized onions. The Scott Avenue (a crab cake/bacon/baby spinach salad, paired with a tasty buttermilk-chive dressing) is a personal favorite, but you really can’t go wrong with anything here. Just be sure you save room for dessert — the banana fried cheesecake is tantalizingly sweet.
If there’s one drawback to the Filling Station, it’s that it is easily, well, filled. A scarcity of space and seating means you’re most likely headed for a chair at the bar. Show up on a Friday night with a group, however, and you’ll be lucky to find room to squeeze inside, let alone sit down. The congestion can cause service to suffer, though the staff are friendly enough.
The satisfyingly quirky menu and hip location make the Filling Station an ideal destination to grab a drink or a quick bite to eat, but this is not the place to be if you plan on...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Lindley Park — Lindley Park Filling Station
If you ever find yourself in Greensboro, North Carolina, do yourself a favor and head over to Lindley Park — one of the coolest little vintage neighborhoods around. It’s the kind of place where sidewalks are lined with towering trees, people are out walking their dogs, riding bikes, and strolling to nearby restaurants, all surrounded by charming craftsman-style and vintage homes.
Tucked right into this picture-perfect neighborhood is one of my absolute favorite spots: Lindley Park Filling Station. This place is a true neighborhood gem — cozy, casual, and consistently delicious. Their menu is full of unique, creative sandwiches (most of them cleverly named after nearby streets), hearty salads, delicious soups, and amazing grass-fed burgers.
My go-to is always the salad sampler: a fresh house salad with their incredible honey balsamic vinaigrette, a scoop of egg salad, their southern pasta salad, and my personal favorite — the roasted red pepper rosemary chicken salad, served with warm pita bread. It’s the perfect mix of flavors, and it never disappoints.
Today, I treated myself to a slice of their key lime pie, and wow — it was absolutely excellent. You can really tell everything is made in-house with care, from the sandwiches to the desserts.
The service here is always top-notch too. Even when they’re busy (and they always are — which tells you something!), the staff is friendly, efficient, and welcoming.
Lindley Park is packed with great dining spots — from Sticks and Stones Clay Over Pizza (best in GSO) and Emma Key’s Burgers to Freeman’s Grub and Pub, Fish Bones, Scrambled, and Hop’s Burger Bar.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this neighborhood favorite. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s well worth a visit! If you are a High Point peep, it’s very reminiscent of...
