I've been to Hops many times and it's always a great experience with amazing food. But this time was a crap show, from the service to the wait time on food, always to the food itself. I will not toe lengthy but please allow me to explain: I went to hops with my girlfriend, and when we got there (at approximately 9:01 pm) though the atmosphere was usually, our server didn't seem to be in the best spirits (which is understandable for the industry). Here is where it deviates, she came to ask us for our order, we gave it to her and she left to go put it in, took about 15-20 minutes for us to get our drink, another 15-20 minutes go by and we find out that the server that we had was no longer going to be serving our table, and the new server that we got didn't even care to tell us her name or the old servers name. We had to call our new server a few times just to get a refill on drinks, and each time that I waved to her, her response when she came to our table was "what??". We got to this restaurant and were seated around 9:00, we still did not have our food at 9:45, we didn't order anything crazy. Just two medium rare burgers with fries and a side salad. So when I asked our server about what was taking our food so long she was gone. Maybe another 15 minutes. Came back with our food and said that it had been sitting in the window. My mid-rare Burger was closer to medium well, and my girlfriend's Burger was the same., along with my fries, and her salad had started wilting.. I can understand servers having bad days in this industry. What I do not understand is why we received the service that we did, why neither of our servers introduced themselves to us, why a server thought that it was appropriate to respond with "what?" When her table needed her assistance (mind you she was on her phone not dealing with other tables. Each time I tried to catch her attention),.. why did the food sit in the window so long that it overcooked, got cold and started wilting... And why we received a take it or leave it attitude when we're handed the food. We couldn't even ask for the food to be remade because none of the server or bar staff would respond when I tried to get their attention or when I walked up they said the kitchen was shutting down. Terrible service, then waited and hour for our food, while 3 other tables were able to get there food, with one table getting an order remade, and we couldn't even be told why our food took so long or why it was over cooked, and no one was willing to remake the food either? Absolutely unacceptable. This was by far the worst experience I've experienced at Hops Burger Bar, and I hope it doesn't happen again, because it should have never happened in the...
Read moreToday was my second time visiting this restaurant, but it has been years since my first visit. I was one in a party of six. We all agreed that our food was delicious. The restaurant was very busy at 1:00 on Sunday and the parking was horrible. Some of my party parked in an overflow gravel lot that made me wonder if I needed a four-wheel drive to park in. Others parked along the street, and others parked some distance away on a side street.
I ordered hot wings, and my guests ordered burgers, fries, salads, and tea/sodas. Everyone was pleased with the taste of their food. When checks came out, both checks automatically had an 18% gratuity already calculated into the bill, and there was a tip line on the receipt that was for additional gratuity. I don't care to eat at restaurants that automatically charge a gratuity, but when it happens, I don't want you asking for more.
The final thing I'm going to say about this restaurant is that both times I've been here, it has been crowded. We we called ahead to get on a list for seating but was told they don't do reservations or waitlists. We asked if they had tables for six and was told yes. When I arrived early for a table, I was told my entire party had to be present before we were seated. I told them that because we needed a table for six, I arrived early so they would be prepared. After a 25-minute wait, we were seated at a table for four with two of our guests sitting at the ends. This was a special time together with our out of town guests, and rather than us being told that we'd be squeezed in for the seating, they didn't say a word. How extremely disappointing! Oh, they did offer for us to sit in the outside dining area, but when I looked, it was hot, and all they had were tables for four.
The food was delicious, but based on our experience, I'd never recommend this restaurant for a group of six. Additionally, because of the traffic and parking situation, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with...
Read moreI have been a long-time customer of this establishment for approximately seven years, predominantly favoring take-out orders, particularly their exceptional burger offerings. Regrettably, I have encountered a situation wherein the professionalism and demeanor of certain waitstaff members have left much to be desired.
A number of these employees have exhibited an overtly discourteous and entitled attitude, which, if extended to represent my business, would cause me great embarrassment. While it is crucial to acknowledge that not all staff members exhibit this behavior, I have unfortunately experienced interactions with two to three individuals who have displayed exceptionally poor conduct.
In recent visits, I have consistently encountered the same subset of waitstaff members who exhibit these undesirable traits. Consequently, I have decided to refrain from dining within the establishment due to this recurring issue. My upbringing has instilled in me the importance of treating every individual with the same level of respect, irrespective of their role, whether it be the janitor or the CEO.
The average cost of my orders typically falls within the range of $50 to $150, depending on the number of individuals being served, which is in line with the prevailing market rates for high-quality burgers.
Furthermore, I would like to express my disappointment with the quality of their wings. They were remarkably tough in texture, akin to a solid object. However, it is worth noting that the accompanying sauce and marinade were reasonably satisfactory. For those considering a visit to this establishment, I recommend adhering to their burger offerings, which consistently meet high standards. Personally, I find the "Diablo" burger to be a particularly satisfying choice...
