Scrambled in Greensboro: A Culinary Haven with Impeccable Service
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Scrambled Southern Diner in Greensboro, North Carolina, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional as is every visit. The service at this establishment is consistently impeccable, creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the restaurant's unique vibe.
From a full bar to outdoor seating, Scrambled offers a diverse setting for patrons. However, be sure to plan ahead for weekends as the place tends to get crowded - a testament to its popularity. Reserving a spot via Yelp can save you from the weekend rush wait.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - THE FOOD! I've never encountered a disappointing dish here. My personal favorite is the scrambled eggs with added fried chicken, drizzled with honey and hot sauce for a delightful twist - a dish I fondly refer to as "hot chicken." The bacon is delicious, and the sage sausage gravy stands out as one of the meatiest and tastiest gravies I've ever had.
Scrambled excels in freshness; the fruit is always in season, and the Belgian waffles are a heavenly combination of light, fluffy, and subtly sweet. Even as someone who typically avoids grits, I was blown away by the exceptional texture and flavor of Scrambled's grits - undoubtedly the best I've ever had.
While the biscuits are good, a suggestion for improvement is to enhance their fluffiness and impart a richer buttery buttermilk flavor. On the other hand, the hash browns are a triumph, featuring a perfect balance of crispy exterior and moist interior, achieved with fresh shredded potatoes no doubt.
For those with a sweet tooth, the French toast with banana rum toasted almond compote is a must-try, rounding out a menu that consistently delivers on taste and quality. There's a host of optional toppings available for the pancakes, waffles, and French toast.
In conclusion, Scrambled in Greensboro is a culinary gem that earns a solid 10+ out of 10. Whether you're a local or just passing through, don't miss the opportunity to savor the incredible dishes and impeccable service that make Scrambled a standout dining destination. Highly...
Read moreEverything about this place is incredible! I've visited scrambled three times, and every time I've been greeted with incredible customer service, delicious food and a pleasing aesthetic. When I went, I've gotten the French toast plate with the banana almond rum compote with their bacon, hash browns and scrambled eggs, and I've gotten the three little pigs scramble over hash browns, with their biscuit and pimento cheese. Scrambled absolutely nails the traditional diner breakfast foods, like bacon, eggs, hash browns and french toast, but then elevates it with delicious house made jams, compotes, toppings and other sauces, as well as their pimento cheese. Scrambled is the Greensboro destination for breakfast or brunch, and also has a bar available if desired. The dining area is very pleasant, with a faded industrialism kind of vibe, while still keeping the Americana diner feel, and is complete with local artists' work featuring chickens, to authenticate the overall artsy vibe- outdoor dining and take-out dining is also available. All the staff that have served me have been kind and pleasant, but also are helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, and have been just stellar servers and hosts to me during my time there. Two out of the three times I went, there was no seating wait, but that is a worry: Scrambled is delicious and popular, so the first time I went, there was a wait time of roughly 40 minutes, but only due to the popularity of the location. It's worth noting that the entire party must be present to be seated. All and in total, Scrambled is an incredible location, and is the best place in Greensboro for traditional breakfast foods- with great lunch options- and I would recommend it...
Read moreI do not write reviews unless I really like a place or am very disappointed.
It was the latter. I was visiting my niece for the weekend who had just begun college at NCAT.
On our last morning together, I wanted to go to a really great breakfast spot. The reviews for this place were very good.
We had to go online to be placed on a waiting list, and then, we had to wait nearly two hours to be seated, and when we got there, there was actually a line going out the door and wrapped around the building—so we knew we were in for a treat…. only to receive cold food.
My friend ordered one pancake that came out dry and rubbery with some powdered sugar covered over it.
I ordered fries with my two eggs and toast that was cold. There was no butter, but it didn’t matter because it would not have melted on the toast anyway. The fries were cold and I asked for a new order.
After waiting for an extended amount of time, I ended up eating the rest of my meal before it got more cold and canceling the fries as I was starving after a 3- hour wait, and who wants to eat their meal piece-meal—maybe some people but not me?
My friend ended up not eating the one pancake she ordered and sent it back.
My niece said her order was good but she didn’t eat it all stating her stomach was hurting.
The parking is horrendous. My friend kept running out to check on her car because we were told they were notorious for towing people’s vehicles.
The place is only opened until 3 when we went on a Sunday. I don’t know, maybe the limited time causes the “ Chick Fil A —affect” , but I honestly don’t know what all the hype is about. It’s so bad, I wish we had just gone to a Waffle...
