Visited Greensboro today and thought of trying something different before heading back to Charlotte. Our first time trying Senegalese food and MANNN!!! I can not find the right words! It hits all the right notes that screams DELICIOUSNESS!! The guy at the counter (and his daughter?) were very accommodating and super friendly, even patiently explaining and answering our questions. The food portion was generous, and the home made ginger juice (OMG!! We regret not bringing home more.)
I'm from Malaysia (we use a lot of spices in our foods), and trust me when i say, i know d@#n well when the food has a great mix of spices in it. And this place sure do know d@#n well about their spices.
South East Asian foodie verdict : GUILTY FOR SERVING DAMN GOOD FOOD!! 😝🤣🥰
Thanks for sharing your awesome food for the people to try. Keep it up and see you next time we visit Greensboro again.
P/s It has very limited seats, so big groups are advised to take away. And don't let the gas station looks fool you, we had doubts when we got there. But as the saying goes,"looks can be decieving." Just go in and go straight for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Saint Louis Saveurs, a new and one-of-a-kind restaurant in my neighborhood that serves Senegalese African cuisine. This family owned and operated restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who immediately make you feel at home. I had the Avocado Sandwich, which was a vegetarian option, and it was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was served with a side of their house-made hot sauce, which was amazing. My partner had the Chicken Sandwich and couldn't stop raving about how flavorful and tender the chicken was. The food was expertly prepared with a great presentation, and the portion sizes were just right. The chef even called me to confirm how I wanted my food prepared, and gave me a detailed rundown on how they cook and use their ingredients while I was picking up the order. It’s the uniqueness, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food and quality for me. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something different and delightfully flavorful...
Read moreThe best African food! This is senegalese food, the lovely food of Senegal! I am never disappointed. The people are lovely here and are happy to tell you about their food. I recommend teaching yourself about their menu before ordering so you dont miss out on anything especially delicious. A favorite of mine is their Okra Soup with foufou (pounded, fermented yam and plantain). Be sure to eat the fufu with your hands and dip it in the soup! I also love their Bissap juice which is like a sweet, hibiscus-mint juice.
I like their okra soup a bit more than Ghanaian okra soup i found out- they cook theirs through, while Ghanain okra soup its more slimy. Definitely worth the try, and if you like spicy, be sure to ask for a side of hot sauce to dump in your soup!
I also tried their Fataya which is also good, flavorful, and with perfect texture. I sat in the restaurant and enjoyed myself very much! It is small though, so maybe not best for a very...
