I can't believe it. I used to love coming here. It was the perfect quick lunch when I could only take a half-hour break, since I also work at the Friendly Center.
My standard order consisted of edamame and a Philadelphia roll. Sometimes I'd get cucumber salad, but most times just the two items.
One day I ordered the usual and the edamame came out awful. There was freezer burn all over the pods. I told a manager and she took it off my bill. I was grateful for that.
I went over today to grab my quick lunch and ordered, you guessed it, edamame and Philly roll. I specifically told the server, Chris, to please double check the edamame because last time it had freezer burn. If it did, I'd order something else. No prob.
A couple minutes later, he brings me the Philly roll. I was a little taken aback because I usually got the edamame FIRST and THEN the roll. I asked him about it and he said the roll was ready. (Maybe it was ready for someone else?) I'll have the edamame right out. This was not what I wanted but, oh well, I'll just go along.
The edamame comes out and as I'm eating, I see freezer burn on at least a quarter of the order.
The server comes over, "How's everything?"
I gestured to the plate with the offending edamame lined up like a shrimp platter. "Well, Chris, as you can see, the edamame has freezer burn on it."
"Yeah. I don't know much about this stuff." (Hasn't he eaten any of the fare? How would he know what to recommend?)
"You're a server in a restaurant and you don't about this 'stuff'? Wow."
"I'll show XXX." (I don't know the cook's name).
He comes out saying XXX put more in the microwave. (I didn't ASK him for more. I didn't WANT more.) He brings it out and sure enough, there was freezer burn on THAT batch too. I showed him where.
He said he'd bring the check. I was charged for the edamame. I said, "Yeah, you know. I'm not exactly thrilled with the fact you didn't take this off."
Here's Chris's response: "You ate most of it, the cook made you another batch, and I'm not authorized to take it off the bill." I was floored. I ATE MOST OF IT? I can assure you I did not. And didn't I pay for the ENTIRE order of it? Don't forget I asked beforehand TO CHECK FOR THE FREAKIN' FREEZER BURN!!! (For the record, I didn't send it back because I figured, I'll never order it again. And the cook takes it upon himself to make another batch. I'm supposed to be grateful?)
So, I'm writing this review because I'm disappointed in the food because, oh, I don't know, when I go out to eat, I'm hoping whatEVER I order doesn't have freezer burn.
I'm really disappointed in the server who 1. Gave me my Philly roll before the appetizer; Didn't know about this stuff; and 3. Said, "You ate most of it."
To the manager: please hire servers who don't respond with, "I don't know much about this stuff."
I probably will not be going back to my used-to-be favorite sushi place because of...
Read moreMy fiance and I tried this place out after work. When we walked in we stood at the door for atleast 10 mins before someone even said anything I asked if the slim guy could take our order as he started sweeping by my feet and he said the cashier would be with us in a min She was packing alot of orders. We waited 10 more mins for her to finish! When she got there to take our order it was after 230 so we had to settle for the dinner prices which were steep. I ordered the hibachi steak WELL DONE, and my fiance ordered the chicken hibachi both cooked well done with extra hibachi sauce. We waited for about 40 mins for our food. After I received my food wrapped in the bag and tied we drove home about 5 mins from friendly and I opened my plate to eat... I could look at the steak and tell it wasn't cooked all the way thru... it was just seared on both sides but it wasn't WELL DONE 😕 I cut into the biggest piece of steak I saw n not only was it pink in the middle the redish juice was running off so I know it got on the veggies n the rice and I wasn't about to eat that... I called and spoke to the young woman who took our order as she was speaking to the owner and they tried to offer me a side of steak and not replace the veggies n rice that the meat also touched and we paid almost $20 for I asked the girl if I could speak to the owner personally and she said that she wouldn't be able to understand me because there was a language barrier, yet she explained everything to her in English. Needless to say I didn't go back because I knew the steak would be cooked the same. As much as I love hibachi ill stick to cooking my own... or going to...
Read moreANT in food. I went to US Sushi for lunch and called the order in. When I got back to the office to eat I noticed an ant crawling around in my rice. I called them and talked to the girl at the front desk. She told me to bring my card back and she would refund me. When I got back to US Sushi the owner was there at the desk and asked me did I bring the food. I explained to her, no one told me to bring the food but I said I could get my co worker to send a picture of the uneaten food. After my co worker sent the picture they STILL refused to refund me. She insisited that I go back to my job, which is 15 min away, and get the food. She kept telling me "I want my food back". At this point I was furious bc NO ONE apologized or admited any guilt. Instead caused me a major headache. At this point it was NO LONGER about the money but the fact that they have NO CUSTOMER service skills or any sense of what it means to value a customer. I returned with the food IN BAGS and UNEATEN, and my co worker was with me. The owner went through the rice looking for the ant insisting that the crawling object that I saw was pepper. I am an educated woman with 2 degrees, I am sure I know an ant when I see one. After finally agreeing to give me my money back, she told me that she "NEVER wanted to see me again!" So rude and unprofessional. DO NOT EAT here... Obviously customer service is...
