4 Stars – A Very Different Dining Experience… Come for the Food! La Vita offers a truly one of a kind experience, but let me be clear, come for the food. The restaurant has been around for over 30 years and operates strictly by reservation. You’ll need to call ahead, check availability, and even choose your meal in advance, as everything is made to order with fresh ingredients sourced the same day. The space is small and unpretentious, just four tables and one small two-top near the door. It’s more like dining in someone’s home than a traditional restaurant. You’ll actually see the kitchen as soon as you walk in. The vibe is no frills, and the staff (including owner Rosie and our server Lisa) are very straightforward, some might even say brusque, so it helps to come in with thick skin and a laid back attitude. That said, the food is absolutely worth it. Every dish our party of four had, from appetizers to entrées, was outstanding. If you focus on the quality of the meal and not the ambience or service style, you’ll likely walk away impressed. It’s not a five star experience due to the overall atmosphere and tone of service, but the quality of the food and the very reasonable prices does earn La Vita’s four stars.

This place is phenomenal. I love homemade Italian food so this was exactly for me. It’s like your grandma is cooking for you. Be realistic, don’t expect a huge menu on a Monday, we order the specials and tiramisu-everything was to die for. We will return. Loved everything.

I can't believe I haven't found the place before! Great home style Italian served informally. It's a wonderful spot for a relaxed meal after work. 10/19/2021 My wife and I have been back many times since my first review and everything has truly been outstanding. Western PA has a lot of Italian restaurants going back to the 30s, when they started in someone's kitchen serving meals to immigrant Italian miners in and around the coal towns. The competition is stiff and the majority don't survive. The clients are 2nd and 3rd generation, used to eating grandma's recipes from the old country. The Italian food around here is as good as anything you can get in Rome or Sorento. La Vitas is following this tradition and is truly in the top tier in Western PA and maybe the world,, and the owner cooks it all herself, fresh, made while you wait. If you want fancy decor and suck-up waiters go somewhere else. If you're looking for great homemade Italian, make a reservation, be nice because her time is not yours to waste, and come and enjoy!

9-29-2025 I, my wife, and a group of old friends just had a fantastic meal here tonight. Everyone...

I called to make reservations. I then asked if they made a particular dish since it's been yrs since I was there. They were very rude and quick on the phone. When we said goodbye, they didn't hang up their phone. We were able to hear them calling us a-holes for asking 2 questions. We also heard them making fun that we asked what their signature dish is. I stayed on line for prob less than minute, and was taken back to hear them berating us for asking 2 questions . I also heard them say the menus on line and called us a-holes again. At this point I hung up. I asked if they still .made bracii since it's been yrs since I was there last and it's not listed on menu. Then .my boyfriend asked what their signature dish is. So very disappointed at their conversation while they thought they hung up. Apparently they don't realize they're not the only...
