The Venue opened the Friday before Christmas 2019. I just happened to see them when I was driving on the road to the post office and decided to stop in after I called. They do not have a suit and tie dress code like many 5 star restaurants. They prefer for you to make a reservation, but if they are not too busy you may not need one. They are also open until 9:00 PM on Sunday. The first thing that caught my attention was how the tables were beautifully presented. The place has a lot of appealing features. There are no spots on the silverware and you can see your reflection in it.
The complimentary appetizer is really delicious. It has a smooth texture and is not over powering, but pleasantly seasoned with just the right amount to tantalize your tastebuds. I ordered the New York strip steak. The steak is one of the thickest steaks I have ever seen. Their dessert was excellent as well. They serve really good portions and they are 5 star quality, but do not charge a 5 star price like you would expect.
I was impressed from the moment I walked in until the time I left. Amy and Jeremiah are some of the most respectful and personable servers I have met. You can tell they love their work because they glow with enthusiasm to serve you. I did not meet the chef, but I am sure he presents himself the exact same way.
The folks here focus on you, their customer and do not distract themselves with other things like cell phones like I have seen some do at other restaurants. To be honest I was surprised they do not have any Michelan stars yet. They definitely deserve it for all their hard work and attention to detail. I went to The Venue because I had a horrible week as well as being angry at how some have been treating me and needed something to take my mind off everything. The place helped me to relax and for once in my life my anger and frustration left me while there. I'm thankful for the experience I had here and would recommend anyone who is in the Greensburg area to...
Read moreMade a reservation for a specific table some 2 weeks in advance, a confirmation of which I received on my phone. However, when we showed up, our table was occupied by other people. With a lot of attitude, thus demonstrating both rudeness and unprofessionalism in addition to incompetence, we were informed that our only options were to either get a different table or wait till the other people were done. It was almost like we were the ones who had created a problem and were inconveniencing them. No efforts whatsoever were made to make up for their error. Appalled by the way we were being treated, we left.
Later on, I decided to call the owner of this establishment, thinking he couldn't possibly approve of the amateurism and rude ways of his personnel. Alas, waste of time. At first, he tried to deny that we had a reservation. When I told him I had proof, he said the guy who had put in our reservation "should not have done that" and "no longer worked there because of stuff like that". Couple more things this man told me: "I'm not going to offer you a free glass, because this was clearly not our fault" and "if you don't like our level of service, go to a different restaurant."
And that's exactly what we had done. We ended up going to J. Corks, where we received an excellent meal and outstanding service, even without a reservation. So when it comes to fine dining, that's where we will go from now on and that's where we recommend...
Read moreMy initial experience at The Venue was great! The food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive. We have nothing, but positive things to say about our waitress. At the end, I had about half of my food left over and it was to be packaged to go. (If you’ve never been to The Venue, they take your left overs in the back to package them to go.) Our waitress made a mistake and gave us the wrong left overs. I get it, accidents happen. I ordered the shrimp stuffed with crab as my meal. I’m not quite sure what I got, but it was not my original meal. I called to let them know that I got the wrong food assuming someone else would too. After being on hold, the waitress then got on the phone to with me to apologize. She offered for me to return to get my left overs or to drop them off at my house. At this point it should be up to the establishment to make right of the situation NOT the waitress or the customer. I’m very disappointed with the establishment in how this was handled. Also, it’s very dangerous for that waitress to have to offer and drive left overs to someone’s...
