Oh my! I am swooning for this delightful new Italian bakery that has just opened in the little plaza across from E. Ave., Wegmans near Lucano Italian restaurant.
This was opened by a local family Who relocated here from Italy so I was eager to give them some business while trying out their delicious pastries. I did get the tip to go first thing as they do sell out
They have sweet as well as savory options. I think I might've almost bought one of everything LOL and took it back to work with business cards and shared it among the staff at school.
The focaccia was light and airy a delicious little afternoon bite... They also had hot savory pastries that were specialties of Sicily which would make a great light dinner with a side salad or take to school for lunch. The breakfast pastries are constantly changing - they had two new offerings along with four or five regulars.
The desert pastries were melt in your mouth delicious I did not sample anything from the refrigerated case but definitely will be back to try their tiramisu and they have an intriguing looking Sicilian cake I think we will have to try.
Family run with superior customer service- everything is made in house and they can answer any questions you have about the products
Currently only open Friday Saturday Sunday and my advice is get there...
Read moreSo, while we were in Greenville eating brunch after doing some errands after church on Sunday, my niece was lamenting that it was St. Joseph’s Day and she wouldn’t be able to have Italian zeppoles as was the tradition for many decades when we lived in Rhode Island. So, on the hunt I went for anywhere near us we might find Italian pastry, not really expecting to. Well, to our great surprise and excitement, the search included Dolce Italy, an authentic Italian bakery that was relatively close. As soon as we walked in the door, we knew we were going to be enjoying some real treats for our tastebuds because our eyes were already glowing at the first glimpses of gelato and beautifully prepared pastries in the display cases. We not only sat and enjoyed absolutely delicious pastry and gelato but also left with boxes to take home and share. My niece didn’t get her zeppoles yet because they were sold out, but we’re already planning a return trip next weekend and will order some ahead. This lovely pastry shop lived up to every one of their five star reviews and is a treasure that is a family operation. Can’t...
Read moreMy family loves Dolce Italy. We have been customers since the first day they opened. They have an amazing selection of desserts, confections, sweets, large and small, plus savory items perfect for a snack or a lunch. You can even get coffee! Interestingly, Dolce opened during the covid pandemic. While it seems strange that a new business could open and thrive during such harsh conditions, they have done it. The quality of their products, the great family-owned and family-run atmosphere and great customer service, and the fact that there is always something new plus always a supply of your favorites - it's just a great combination. A few of our favorites include their chocolate mousse, their almond cookies, their Chantilly-cream filled cream puffs and profiteroles, and their cream-filled magic horns! You won't find much that is vegan here, but they do have gluten free, and they also have an extensive menu of items you can custom order. Highly recommended! But - get there early...they...
