We’ve visited here twice. For our first trip the owners were kind of abrasive and rude. The lady who owns the place is snappy. Honestly if they weren’t so rude their rules wouldn’t bother me. I’m pretty sure there’s an old saying about flies and honey and vinegar… They have a few rules about how many paints you can use at a time and how long you can be there, which I understand are to keep paint costs low and what not but they do not create a very welcoming atmosphere. We decided to give it another try a few weeks ago. We did not make a reservation for the second trip because online it says they do accept walk ins (and it had been a busy week so I forgot to call, my bad). When we went for our second trip we walked in and she immediately tried to turn us away, saying they really try to push reservations. Her husband suggested we share a table with other customers and that we had to be done in an hour and a half. I think if they really want people to make reservations they should just change their policy to reservations only, that way you’re not just immediately alienating customers when they try to walk in. The owner does like to argue with people about what her website says so here’s the quote pulled directly from their website: “ Reservations recommended every day especially on weekends, Holidays, and during the summer regardless of group size but Walk-Ins are welcome but can't always guarantee a table.” I understand they want reservations, I really do, but immediately trying to turn people away and having an attitude doesn’t create a positive environment. They really need to just say reservations only. On top of all of that their rules are just really strict and do not cultivate a creative environment that I’ve experienced at other pottery studios and art spaces. Unfortunately this is really the only spot to paint pottery in Greenville so options are limited and this is one of mine and my mom’s favorite activities to do...
Read moreReturn customer since childhood growing up in the Greenville area here. We come at least three times a year to enjoy our date nights, Halloween and Christmas creatively. This is the best paint-and-pick-up pottery business in Greenville. Owners/Operators Joe and Michelle are exemplary artists with customer-focused approaches for parties of all sizes and artists of all ages. Plenty of clay to choose from, with pieces (figurines, plates, ornaments, etc.) ranging in price from $7 & up, and also plenty of paint: standard shades, speckled paint, and droppers for fine details. Schedule reservations because tables get filled quickly around holidays and weekends! Pieces are generally ready to be picked up after glazing and firing by the following week, but bigger pieces may take longer during holidays due to the space they occupy during the glazing process: our big Christmas tree this year took two weeks due to the amount of smaller ornaments that were in process. Parties of 10+ can schedule a whole room for their gathering to work on pieces together. Highly recommend calling ahead to check...
Read moreCalled to make a reservation on the weekend and told that I would need to buy a new piece to get a reservation on a weekend. I was not able to finish a piece that I previously purchased because I work during the week. If you want to finish a project, they expect you to do it during the week because they get booked on the weekends. I was not told this before buying an expensive piece. It’s sitting on my counter I finished because I can’t get in during the weekdays, even though they charge a $6 sitting fee. It would probably only take me 15-20 mins to finish the project now, but I can’t get in on a day off without buying yet another piece that I’d be expected to finish the same day in studio. If I’m going to spend my money, then I expect a few sittings to finish a larger project. My family and I have been going there for years, but I’ll be taking my business to...
