Traveled 5 hours to get here! Came once before and the fried chicken and pie was so memorable from our first time in the area, we had to make a special trip back. Atmosphere is very homey, very comfortable and casual. The soups are spectacular. I had french onion, my wife had beef vegetable. Lots of sides to choose from. Lots of appetizers as well. Again i had to make the trip for the fried chicken. My wife ordered the chicken and noodles. Portions are huge. You will definitely need a take home box. We were both very satisfied with our meals.
Then comes the pies...... You absolutely must save room for pie. Im not much of a dessert guy ( i own a candy store and bakery and get tired of being around sweets) But their pies are AMAZING. Perfect crust & delicious fillings. Both times we went we ended getting pie for there and a few slices to bring back home. ( did i mention the 5 hour drive?) Will definitely be making...
Read moreNice little hidden gem in Greenville Illinois. We had a little wait, but that was due to coming in at noon on a Sunday. The waitress Emma was very nice and attentive to us. They have Daily Specials and a Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner menu to choose from as they serve breakfast all day. Pepsi products are a big plus to me as I don't drink coffee, so Mountain Dew is my coffee. Biscuits and Gravy, you can order 1/4, 1/2, or full order, and it's homemade Gravy. I ordered 1/4 order with a sausage patty, and my friends ordered eggs, toast, and a sausage patty. My other friend ordered the Walleye special with Coleslaw and fries. It looked delicious, and he said it was delicious. If you want dessert, they have all kinds of homemade pies. Prices are reasonable, and it's a welcoming place to stop in for a meal. Overall, I will stop again for another...
Read moreTraveling through small towns while on vacation we like to try hometown places to eat.
Food portions are nice size, probably would have tasted good if we received it on time.. and warm. The staff is very slow (and that is putting it nicely) and not attentive.
Ordered a burger to go for our dog who was traveling with us to eat, they forgot about it and it ended up being a sausage patty not a burger, you can't feed that to a dog.
Also it is seat yourself, if you're from out of town you don't know that, so we stood there, they should have a please sign seat yourself.
The saying..if the parking lot is crowded it's good...well doesn't apply to this place.
And they need to fix the front door from slamming shut... annoying
Hopefully they address the issues of service and interactions with the guests and I think out of town people may feel...
