I went there because I was asked to pick up hamburgers for a band playing in Greenville on Saturday. I had a little trouble finding the place, even using a GPS, due it being dark and the roundabout . I am not familiar with that part of Greenville. We got there at exactly 6:00, like we were supposed to. Once we got there, we then got to the VFW. The band did love the hamburgers. UPDATE:. May 14, 2022-We were going to order from Maid Rite again for the band again, after being happy with them last time. When the singer tried to call them, he got a recording saying the number was disconnected. He had me try to call. I tried to call several times and got the answering machine. He finally decided to give up when the VFW, where they were playing, was serving food that night. We were both disappointed. Unfortunately, you lost business that night. UPDATE: July 8, 2023-Last year, after we were unhappy here, we thought we were done with them feeding the band. This year, when the place they were playing was not serving a meal, it was decided to give Maid-Rite a second chance. The lead singer placed the order, and I picked it up. I got there early in case I got lost. We had to wait to get the food. When my friend and I arrived with the food, the band was excited. It was decided by us all that it made a delicious meal. UPDATE: December 28, 2024-When my favorite band is in town, I have had the job of picking up Maid Rite Burgers for the band. The lead singer would phone in the order, and I would pick them up. Yesterday, when he tried to phone in the order, he told them they wanted 16 burgers, which is what we normally order. He got told the minimum for a phone order is 30 burgers. This is for the band, spouses, and friends. We can't eat 30 burgers. That is too much for us! What is the reason for...
Read moreNot a first time visitor to this establishment, but had some of the worst customer service I've ever seen tonight.
My girlfriend and I made a trip to pick up some sandwiches tonight as we've done many times before. Knowing the restaurant gets busy and they close at 8, usually shutting down the drive thru line about a half hour before close, we rushed over after work and arrived around 720, the line still not closed! We only had about 6 cars in front of us too, which if you've been there, you know is not an example of their busy hours.
We waited and waited and waited, about 40 minutes, to get up to the window. It was closing time, but there were still 4 or 5 cars behind me, as they hadn't shut down the line yet. The car in front of me orders, and at 8 o'clock on the dot, they put a closed sign in the window, with a handful of customers that have been waiting 20-40 minutes. To make things worse, we're now stuck in the driveway as the car in front of us is waiting for their seeming made-to-order food is being prepared, and the cars behind us are not aware that the restaurant is closed. We wait, stuck in the drive thru for 15 minutes after closing, with no food, for the car in front of us to get their food and move out of the way.
Very poor customer service from one of my favorites. I understand that things happen, and that we were technically waiting at closing time. After 40 minutes of waiting, the least they could have done is take care of...
Read moreWe drove out to Greenville, Ohio - charming! - to go to the Kitchenaid store, so I could pick out a new mixer. Lawn chairs lined the streets, the weekend before Thanksgiving, and when we asked the woman at the store why they were there, she said, "Oh... the Lighted Horse Parade," as matter-of-factly as if it was something everyone in the USA was familiar with! I wish we could have stayed for it, but it was to be at 7 PM, and we were there at noon. After buying the (beautiful, pearl aqua) mixer, we decided to google a place to eat. Turns out, Greenville is famous for something other than quality kitchen appliances: they are home to the original Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop - a true piece of Americana! We had to try it, and weren't disappointed. The sandwiches are composed of tasty, seasoned, "loose", ground beef, instead of being compacted into a pattie, on a tender bun. (Think 'Sloppy Joe', without the sauce.) We also had shakes, which were very thick. We were craving some onion rings or fries, but they only offer little bags of potato chips - that's a missed opportunity on their part. The place is small, and there was a short line waiting for tables, the whole time we were there, so that tells you something. If you're nearby, you should give it a try! (And check out the "gum wall" - the brick wall outside, on the parking lot-side of the restaurant, is COVERED in multicolored wads of chewing gum.) Heh-heh....
